Opuntia subulata crest, and a nice big one at that. Very very nice score. I see those a fraction of that size going for $20-25.

Thanks for that SuperD, I was too lazy to add the name at posting. I couldn't say no for $20, especially since the smaller ones at the store were $5 for 4in pot sized cuttings which were nowhere near 1/4 of the size of this one.

Definitely! I'm not really supposed to be buying more cacti since I barely have room for the ones that I have, but such a large specimen at such a great price was convincing enough for the boyfriend who has to care for my collection when I am out of town.

I don't think I've seen one that tall before. That's amazingly beautiful.

Looks like Euphorbia mammillaris to me. I don't think it's monstrose, they tend to branch a lot, but it's definitely variegate.

^^ Thanks, I wasn't sure. Had this in a pot for years, but when I planted it in the ground, the growth pattern completely changed (from loosely branching (several inches between branches) to how it is in the picture, (relatively tight clumping).

I got squat for freaks. Maybe when I have some extra cash I'll make a purchase or two. Wait I just remembered I have to graft 4 Gymnocalycium mihanovichii seedlings. 2 white with pink tint and 2 white with a slight green tint. Free seeds from dead flowers on mega store plants. Woo! Really wish I got some of those cool trich crosses that people been growing out. So many cool plants being produced.
