Looking to consume Cyanescenss

Hi, I picked up about 1.2 of cyans yesterday from an acquaintance, whom I trust fairly well. He seems to know what he's talking about, but I was a little concerned because I read that there is a similar shroom that can grow with cyans that is deadly. On top of that, I'm concerned they may of gone bad. He said he picked them in late October and they seem to have some black caps that may be moldy. The rest are a brownish color (one with black spots) and the roots do not seem to be blue (which I don't think happens when they dry anyway?) I will post a picture soon, but any help before hand will be much appreciated. Thank you - J.C
On a side note, I am planning on eating them tonight (but not sure about the black ones...)

They are Psilocybe Cyanescens.
They look OK. 1.2 might not be the strongest trip ever though, depending on the actual potency, each batch varies a lot. Can't go wrong either way though, so go for it.

Ok thank you. I will be taking them tonight on an empty stomach with PB and orange juice. Will be smoking a blunt also to intensify the effects. Would you guys recommend eating them NOT on an empty stomach to get them down easier? Also if a trusted identifier could give his opinion I would appreciate that. Thanks for the reply!

I don't see any bluing on those at all. Could be my screen but I would be very suspicious of cyans that don't have blue on them at least somewhere.

They look like they were poorly dried to me, but not rotten.
If i was going to consume those, I would make them into tea to be easier on the stomach since they look funkier than what im used to seeing.
Its possible that the blacking colored caps were caps that were covered in spores when dried, It is a dark purpleish black color. Another possiblity is that they were hit hard by a frost before drying. Smell them and if they were rotten they would smell bad.

A TI needs to chime in here! I don't think you should eat those IMO.

Brad has a good point, Blueing can be harder to see in dried specimens but should still be visible on atleast some of them. Also the stems look funky to me
The problem here is that it is going to be nearly impossible to positively ID dried mushrooms. Ill post a picture of some dried cyans in a few minutes so you can compare them, but yours look way funky compared to mine.

This is what normal Psilo cyanescens should look like.

I would not consume what you have in that picture, I cannot confirm that they are not cyanescens, But either way they are poorly dried and would be impossible to confidently ID at this stage.

I just went through a jar or dried cyans and almost every one of them has bluing somewhere on it.
The TI's are dropping the ball on this one... This could be bad for the op.

I doubt he will consume especially after being shown picture examples of why his mushrooms are different.
Although I cant say for 100% certain that they are not cyans, Nobody not even a TI will be able to confirm that they are from those pictures. It is already nearly impossible to ID dried mushrooms already, funky looking ones would make it impossible unless bluing was obvious, which it is not.
That being said the risk is too great in my opinion, and i would toss them and learn to hunt some, grow some, or find a trustworthy source without funky looking shrooms.

Blueing doesn't have to be evident, this pic here were more blue than the dark ones I had like he is showing now, but were MUCH less potent. I took an 1/8th of what you see below, and only had a level 1 experience. I took 2.5 grams of some that looked exactly like OP's, brink of level 4.

Potency varies from patch to patch greatly and some trips can become much more intense than others
Alot of dried cyans ive seen dont have visible blueing on them because they are dehydrated without being handled alot. Ops mushrooms show no bluing at all that i can see, and appear to have been handled alot and / or improperly dried. There should definately be some bluing in there. That is certainly a red flag.
Its hard to tell you what it is when the mushrooms are old and dry, but one potential option could be Galerina marginata. That mushroom can kill you and can appear very similar to cyanescens, minus the bluing.

Okay so what would you guys recommend? Toss them? I really want to try them, but I don't want to die over them... I was thinking I would take .2 and see how I feel an hour later.... Would that be enough to kill me? To feel any shroom effect? The one guy is saying he had some that looked like mine and were really potent... :o

Its not worth the risk..
if you took .2 and they were real, you still would probably not feel anything. so why do it?
What I would reccomend is you learn how to pick them, how to grow them, or find a better source (with better mushrooms).
If you want, dont toss them and wait around for a trusted identifiers opinion.
