Need ID. South Texas
    #19302232 - 12/20/13 10:34 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Found these out in a cow field, none of them were really on the shit, but they were scattered around the field. They seem to be just stems or something. I cant tell of any bruising and they won't really bruise it seems like. They have kind of a rubbery feel to them and some look like wood on the inside. They might be old and not useful at all but if I could get an ID on these it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Podaxis species I think. Possibly Agaricus texensis? Or something similar. Stalked puffball would be the common name.
Very cool.

--You could burn them like the heathen kings of old.
--You could dry them out and hang them from the doorway to your house as a warning to potential burglars.
--You could scrape some spores from the gills and try to locate the enlarged germ pore under a microscope.
