my whole grain oats experiment

I found these locally for $13 / 50#, had good luck with WBS so far and haven't had a contam yet, but I don't like all the waste and hulls that may end up in my septic system so looking for a cleaner and cheaper solution.

Should I be concerned with vegetable oil as an ingredient?
My plan is to try different gypsum levels, soak times and simmer times to find the happy medium for these since they are damn cheap and easy to come by here. Will document the progress.
Any other thoughts / tips / advice from the experts? I'm probably going to start this work in about a week when I have some finished jars to G2G with.
Basing this on a couple posts I found with some decent information on the topic of using whole oats, and there really isn't a whole oats prep tek out there that I can find:

RogerRabbit said: Just about any cereal grain will work. I've used both wheat and oats. Prepare as you would rye. Gypsum helps with the clumping. Make sure to rinse the grains well too.
You can also use rye grass seed for spawn. It's available at every hardware store and nursery I've ever entered. RR

I'm surprised that not more people have tried to perfect an Oat Tek you know?
These are the things everyone says in case you were wondering. (I'll just sum it all up to save other's time)
Oats turn mushy, therefore; Rinsing Starches is VERY IMPORTANT, 3-6 hour Soak is enough for oats, never use rolled oats as a substrate, rolled oats have been known to work for some w/PF TEK replacing BRF with rolled oats (extra verm may be needed), Oats Smush together making grow times take longer, EXTRA VERM MAY BE NEEDED.
Mixed Bag with people's results though: Some got more fruit, some less. Fruits tend to be larger and more potent.
Oh and no one seems to stick w/oats so although it may work it may not be for everyone all the time.
Most people only use Oats (and Bran) as nutritional suppliments to their substrates but that's about it.
Okay this thread can die now to be recycled in with the rest of the Oats/Rolled Oats/Oatmeal posts. (It's a shame not more people talk about their success with oats, it's a shame more people don't have success with oats)

I can't really speak much to how well colonization goes on oats, but I just went out on a limb and pooled the cash with a few friends to buy about 350lbs of whole grains. Even if the colonization is so-so, I'm already in love. I boiled the fuck out of three full quarts of dry grain and got six beautiful myco-quarts with only a single burst grain between them. One of my friends has reported not a single burst grain, so I think mine might have been an anomaly.
I'll keep you posted on how it works out.
