Incubator air flow required?
    #19302012 - 12/20/13 09:23 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Hey guys. I'm incubating 10 MS Ecuador jars in a chest that has some holes in the side, but is for the most part insulated and sealed.

Do jars, what with their gas exchange, need fresh air externally? Or is it okay to just have them sealed up in the chest.

On a more scientific note, do colonizing jars thrive with co2 or oxygen, and what is the gas exchange for?

Looking forward to insight

Although I am a noob, I think..

Your jars have a living thing in them that love oxygen, they give off Co2 just like we do, they thrive and will grow faster with more oxygen.

The less they get the slower they will grow.

I believe there is no need to have them sealed away, just keep them out of the sun as water evaporating off them is a pinning trigger!!..

However please someone correct me if I am wrong!! I am still learning myself!

the lid of the tub provides enough gas exchange as do the lids of your jars(hopefully if you made them right)

mycelium likes higher levels of co2 while it's colonizing.
