Peer reviewed research articles, or some tangible and demonstrable evidence. If one was to believe every unsupported theory which passed them, or even one in a hundred we would be in as backass of a world as we're currently residing in.
I understand where you are coming from.
But truth is something that is really hard to nail down...and it is subjective.
Some hold up the scriptures and say ...this is truth. Some hold up a book of Darwinism, and say ...this is truth.
Most physicists agree that all reality is an illusion and subject in part to our individual belief system.
They guy earlier in my statement saying "It has to be someone from the inside"
is conjecture probably based on deductive reasoning.
I guess in my part I failed to ask ....if he had facts to support his premise.

I think at some level truth has to be objective, although our own perceptions are subjective and have a skewed interaction with that theoretically solid base. Could be dead wrong
Heard there was a net security contractor going to town on these sites, if he exists I'd like to see him on the news wearing a Colombian neck-tie.

theres most likely a snitch... or a few of them. you have to understand these people are computer geeks and not hardcore criminals. they probably dont have a very good idea about how things work within the legal system.

I would think if you were running a business such as SR you would run a tight ship.
I would not hire anyone to help me other than people I've known my whole life and that I knew knew better than to taalk to cops no matter what.

both figures had been well-known moderators of the original Silk Road site’s forums before its takedown by law enforcement in October. ----
Weren't SR's forumns on the surface net? If you logged on there they probably have your IP. I don't think that is really paranoid speculation, that is really easy to do. Too bad moderation of a forum equals being part of criminal enterprise. Anyway if you tell the world you are starting up an illegal online drug dealing empire it is kind of challenging the feds. I think it's silly people think they are smarter or going to win that battle. You aren't going to out encrypt the NSA. No one really knows how much they hacked TOR or everything that went into SR1's demise. Starting a small no advertisments service for people based only refferals is the way to go, you wont become a billionaire in a year but you are more likley to stay out of prison.

This is a knee jerk reaction and you are just making wild guesses.
We live in technological times and anything is possible. Who ever gave us this internet technology obviously has to ability to monitor anything and everything that is conceived near a terminal.
It is a reminder to all....be careful what you type, places you go, and things you see.
and as a further note, in case the police are reading this. The reason I did not pay for all those parking tickets was because I did not know about them. The wind must have blown the tickets off my car.
I think the saying goes "ever other hacker is an informer" (in certain groups)
might be close to the truth.... trust noone
shame really, they busted a couple of computer geeks whose crime was that of curiosity

Here is something to ponder:

http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/silk-road-2-0-rises-ashes-improvements-8C11545412
Notice it says the site has risen again by the federal bereau of investigations?
(I know the page was edited, but maybe it is a clue or hint?)
If I were to venture a guess, maybe the new Dread Pirate Roberts is working with the feds and turned in the other two guys, or how can he be so certain that everything is business as usual?

Because the original message says it has been shut down by them

Feds/ cops play tricks like that. Like I said when SR 2.0 first came out, I'd be cautious with the site. It's a honey pot I'm sure. Same kinda games were played with farmers market. Undercover informants messaging the admins and stuff convincing them to sell Molly. Then a few weeks later the Rave supply starts up.. then the sites get busted. It's simple people, don't use the site

regarding FM that is only speculation and more likely coincidence as before they were called Farmers Market, they were also then Rave Supply and sold MDMA. nothing of the sort about a CI inquiring about MDMA was mentioned on their indictments - they did controlled buys of LSD and mescaline but not MDMA. joot was known in other circles for RCs I think he convinced management to start the second site after showing how much 25I-NBOMe could make and how the future of LSD's availability was uncertain from their source.

I'm also reminded of OVDB. Same kinda scenario. Feds, im guessing feds, messaged the dealers trying trade and stuff. Finally one was convinced to do a gps drop off around his home town. Eventually surveillance in the area caught up to him and he got busted. Dangerous game. LEO is always finding new tricks. I feel after the original SR, the online scene won't be the same at least for these kinds of web pages.

Better safe than sorry, if you need your drugs bad enough to risk your freedom and personal info to LE's then you might have a problem.
