I've been reading Graham Hancock lately and I find it very intriguing, you might like some of his work. Of course I can always recommend J.R.R Tolkien, I don't usually read fiction but the way he created a detailed history for his fictional worlds is great. I mostly read books about history, chemistry, occasionally religious, occult, and esoteric texts, I actually read a short text book on the subject of economics the other day that was interesting.

What kind of books or genres do you enjoy?

Check out William Blake (poetry) if you haven't yet. George MacDonald is a favorite of mine, he's known for his crazy depth of imagination incorporated into his fairy-tales for the childlike adults, as well as poetry, essays, novels etc. He was a major influence on the likes of Tolkien, Mark Twain, G.K. Chesterton and so on.

Also Timothy Leary JK LOL HAHAHA OMG HIS WRITING SUCKS
But I still like him...

Could you give some hints as to what direction you are leaning towards? "Literature" is pretty broad... poetry? Existentialist? Prose?

:crazy2:

This^ we can't help you if you don't provide a general explanation of the type of books you enjoy.

My god man! There is a world of Hunter out there for you. His early early stuff is seriously gold, pick up "The Proud Highway" It's a compilation of essays and letters by Hunter, really good shit. Grab a copy of "The Great Shark Hunt" as well, it's another compilation of his works, mostly articles and essays.

If you want a novel go for "The Rum Diary" or maybe "The Curse of Lono"

"The Hell's Angles" is great but it's more straight reporting, less "Gonzo" and some people find it kinda boring. "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail" can also be kinda dull if you aren't familiar with the players of the 72 election, I loved it though.

I will definitely check all of those out. I hadn't even heard of him until last year when I came across a documentary online and decided to read Fear and Loathing. Thanks

Hunter, +1. ( it was all a joke, but...)

Willy B. Crazy Gay Allen Ginsberg, etc.

Just Google "Beat Generation".

There are a plethora of bohemian / counter culture people going back to the 1800's!
Look up R.U. Sirius'Counterculture Through the Ages: From Abraham to Acid House. (2004) Villard Books.'

You're in for a treat:thumbup: He's really an amazing writer, a lot of people write him off as an "over rated, college student, druggie writer" but goddamn most of them never even get past fear and loathing. His voice, style, and flow is unmatched IMO. He's got some seriously poetic shit.

And no probs man:thumbup:
