dehydrator temp
    #19292633 - 12/18/13 10:03 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

is 95 degrees F too hot for drying shrooms? I normally use silica gel to dry my shrooms, but this time I got way too many shrooms and not nearly enough silica to dry them quick enough. most dehydrators iv looked at have a low temp of 95F, will that temp damage the psilocybin/psilocin content?

No not at all. A lot of people use dehydrators for drying mush, including me.

I don't have the links for this, but from my research 95f will not have any effect on the potency. In fact, some people said that they even oven dried their shrooms at 150f with an open door. I wouldn't recommend that. Haha. However, you can absolutely dry them at 95f. Lots of growers do this. I was researching this recently when I was thinking about buying a dehydrator. I decided to buy a Nesco with a minimum setting of 95f.

No, the actives in cubes do not break down until FAR past 300F.

USing heat will get them dryer quicker, which is good because exposure to oxygen kills potency.

THe quicker you can get them cracker dry and sealed the better.....for this use the highest heat setting possible....most dehydrators do not make it past 165F.

Because it doesn't take too much longer anyway, and I aim for the best possible/most potent result.
Also, fresh shrooms will be more potent than dry no matter how you dry them. Probably just by a bit though.

So you want to get them as dry as possible as quick as possible......there is no 100F threshold......use more heat.

crank it up and break the knob off. If it's too loud, you're too old.

Huh how about that.  I almost past over this thread without looking at it.  But then I decided to take a look because you never know what you might learn from any given random thread.  I never though of it like that.  Thanks for the new point of view Hacker:thanx:
