Would this idea work? adding grains/flour to colonized cake
    #19297956 - 12/19/13 01:07 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

I'm thinking of ways to expand mycelium in a non-sterile atmostphere and I wondered if this would work:

Start with a quart jar of colonized mycelium, unscrew the lid in a non-sterile environment, sprinkle either hydrated grains, preferably pced or hydrated grain flour, again preferably pced.  You would only add the -smallest- amount, in the hopes that the mush myc would take over before any contams could.  One the myc took over you could add another layer and so on.

This sounds like an interesting experiment to me, but maybe it's already been done.  Has anyone tried this?
