help with ID's please

Ok these specimens ranged from 11-17cm tall. The caps were 2-4cm wide and were slightly sticky. There were no veils and I saw no blue bruising. They grew direclty on fresh cow dung. I live in South Texas near the mexican border. The stalks were crunchy and snapped like twigs. These specimens also smelled very sweet. Using the keys in Mushrooms Demystified I think they might be Panaeolus solidipes , but I would like your help with a positive. It has been my experience that these are VERY common in my area. Tomorrow I will include a pic of the cross section of the gills If you need it. Thank you.

Just a quick guess without picking up my guides, looks to be Panaeolus camanulatus, an inactive Panaeolus. The caps, even at matuity seem to stay camanulate in your pics.

thanks, are these guys in season during the late summer months? I have not found cubensis since last November. I have found ALOT of these. They looked like wildflowers littering the field from the road! Awesome. I am thinking it is a seasonal issue. Anyway, any other suggestions?

Yeah- those proliferate in the late late dummer it seems like. They're everywhere too- but I'm not inclined to go with campanulatus- they look too big and too white. Also the caps of a camanulatus are more silvery and shiny or something- not solid white and dull. Fucking incactives.....

I think your right and I got my Pans confused. Big, white, and bell shaped are the key features in the Panaeolus I am thinking of. I think I meant to say Panaeolus antillarum, which is synonymous with Pn. solidipes? The whole Panaeolus genus is screwed and needs a serious revision, the sphinctrinus(sp?) campanulatus, and papilionaceus complex is very confusing.

I was going to say that they look a lot more like antillarum rather than campanulatus. Pan campanulatus are much much smaller.

Even though, those specimens look different from the Pan antillarum's which I am used to seeing.
