I'm convinced. My last pasteurisation was shoddy at best and it worked out great.

on one last note for the night i am for sure going back to rye grains for my grain choice, wbs has been a pain in the neck as of late, keep getting bags of busted ass grains,it's like starting with a 20 percent burst kernel ratio

normally i don't mind it but my last three bags have been shit, mind you finding rye locally can be a choir itself here, goes as fast as it comes and always end up having to order it

50/50 lol when wbs works out it kicks ass but then from time to time you get crap bags but it's happened with rye too, if i get wbs again it will be in a see through bag, these ones were not and were garbage, we;ll close too at the very least i got 10 years worth of grain flour if i ever need it

Not necessarily, they both have pros and cons. I like rye for ease of use, next to impossible to fuck up

i switched to rye cause i couldn't get moisture right with all the different WBS mixes available from season to season, but yea rye is more $ i sometimes think about going back, but for the sake of eliminating variables, i like using 1 grain for all grows. I have been meaning to do more reading about nutrients and grains. there has got to be a reason why commercial producers use rye over the "throw away" grains used in WBS mixes. If they use a lot of spent agricultural products for substrate (for inexpensiveness), why wouldn't they use WBS for their grain spawn(for same reason, cheaper price). All I know is rye has all the 8 essential amino acids used for protein building, not sure if the grains in WBS do (especially in combination with one another), like i said, i wanna read more into it.
For ppl like me who live no where near a grain supplier, Whole foods gives a 5% discount on a 50 lbs bag if u buy the whole thing. my friend works there and he gets a 20% discount for being employee, so rye works for me (.80 cents/lb) find a friend who works at one near you! or bribe a hippy looking one with no lol don't do that..but if u shop there enough at the same time with the same guy/girl working bulk department (thats where it is ordered from, with all the "scoop ur own bins)....who knows?

I started wbs recently due to the cheap price. I've noticed that rye berries expand a lot more during soaking., atleast for me

yep it's fucked, at least i got a few pins to clone and still might pull a full flush
and i had a few grains left in the bottom of one of my APE jars when i spawned my tray, tossed some manure in there and ran with it, working good so far
