Watching TV tripping

Hi everyone!
So i've noticed that everytime I trip, I can't seem to focus on a tv if it's on or even my phone! I just rather lay down, relax and close my eyes or stare at something. Anyone else experience the same thing?

Whenever I trip I can never watch any kind of digital screen for some reason. It's always blurry and kind of shifts just out of my eyesight so it's hard to concentrate.

I really don't like to watch TV during a trip. I mostly like to listen to music, and keep technological contact to a minimum

I avoid television when I'm tripping, it just sends out bad vibes. Commercials and cops and lockup just doesn't go well with tripping for me I also turn off my phone because calls and texts are just plain stressful. I just don't like technology much, and when I'm tripping it's pretty much the last thing I want to deal with. It just doesn't fit in well with the headspace for me. Thousands of years of mushroom cults got by just fine without them, so can I!
But one time I watched the live play version of The Nightman Cometh and I think that was the best moment of my life All downhill from here

The only TV I'm interested in while tripping is my Attenborough collection and that's only usually once I'm coming down.
I bet documentaries on space would be neat, too.

Tv is nice if you have a stable trip. Most of the time I feel like laying and listening to music, but once I stabilize I can watch tv. I usually watch it before and while waiting for it to hit.... But then I have to run away from it because it's f*cking with my head so much..... then I throw up, but it's all good after that usually.

This is one of the few good reasons to watch television.

Samsara, Baraka, those are some great watches while in an altered state. The newer seasons of Futurama on Netflix is pretty much really trippy (the episode "mobius Dick" was really neat).

Yes indeed. I watched "How the Universe Works" on LSD and it was mindblowing!
But yeah, sometimes it is hard to watch TV. It's probably because it's so mindless unless you have a documentary or something. I like to watch it towards the end of my trip though.
I just remembered this. One time I was on acid and I sat down and watched TV for about 10 minutes. Then I realized I never turned it on.

Watching TV on mushrooms = wasting mushrooms
And Samsara and the like are trying to replicate the visions/feelings of tripping, why bother watching them whilst experiencing the real thing!
Reminds me of the time I put on Hendrix at Woodstock while drinking 'tea'....15 minutes later I turned it off and went to lie down and watch the real show...

Eh to each his own. I think that there are plenty of neat things to ponder when certain media is own whilst I trip.

I avoid TV while trippin as well. The commercials on television hurt my brainz when I am sober, I can't imagine how they would effect me on psychedelics. Movies are distratcing and confusing when I am tripping. They tend to detract from my trips-- I avoid them as well unless I am on the comedown and need to turn my mind off for a bit.

Had the same thought! Honestly, your right about TV. I'm more for internet shows like hulu and youtube. I'm just saying go watch an episode of "Off the Air" while dosed. It will

Ok I'll be controversial and say I don't like the camping/mushroom combo - I'm worried enough about something happening/getting walked in on tripping at home with my phone off, in the middle of nowhere on a decent dose I can only imagine my mind would go straight to worst case scenario! The only time I've tried it the guy I was with freaked out and we left...

Personally, that's precisely why I love it. Tripping in the woods, close to nature, with no cops, no relatives, no annoying straight folk who will glare at you when they see your huge pupils and wide grin. It's my ideal scenario!
Also: Artificial darkness in a room is scary... but real darkness in the forest is real, and alive. I embrace it!

I think camping and tripping would only be cool with a sitter or two, for mental security. I'd be kinda weary of the random people and animals like previously stated. Or worse case scenario my mind gets the thought of camp looters in my head lolol. And with TV for me, it's either the most amazing thing ever, or uncomfortable and confusing, there's no in between. Sometimes sitting in a near-pitch black room in silence, or even with music, is as amazing as it gets. But when I get comfortable in a trip it takes a lot to veer me off the positive path.

really don't like much technology while tripping, it seems like it's not worth the hassle. I usually have a music playlist already set up so I don't even have to deal with that.

If you find yourself staring at the TV while you're tripping, then that means you're tripping too much. I've been there. It's late, everybody left and you're stuck alone with nothing to do, still tripping. By force of habit you turn the TV on.
If you're tripping the right way, not abusing it, then you want nothing to do with TV, computer, smartphone, etc.. all that stuff is turned off or tucked away somewhere. The psychedelic experience is a return to the beginning, a return to nature. A return to place where we see this artificial crap that fills our lives as a joke. A bazaar, fascinating joke.

I don't really like TV while I'm tripping. On the come down is ok. But on shrooms if I start on a movie or go to it while im peaking things get odd.
I remember doing shrooms with my girlfriend for the first time we tried watching Ted. It wasn't very funny high, and the sound was so distorted and slow-mo I couldn't pay attention properly, but I had to because I was fucked up. Pretty odd experience.

I can not stand to have a tv playing while I'm tripping. It just takes away from my trip. I really like to just lay back and close my eyes, or getting myself set up with colored pencils (or markers) and some paper. I love to draw while tripping. *GoodTimes*

When tripping on acid and watching TV I noticed little things that you would never notice sober. For example certain editing, and one time I caught a glimpse of ONE FRAME that had been edited into the show... 'twas weird.

Offcourse it's totally different for each person.
For me its no TV too.. Allthough we always make sure to have laptop hooked up to one. Good music pared with a muted episode of BBC's earth or life series is a great way to start/end a trip and provides excellent eyecandy during.

I think I was watching the discovery channel and the 1 frame that was edited in was of this Asian guy that looked really creepy... he had like bags under his eyes but I'm still not sure if that was just because I was tripping or if he did really look like that. The image stuck with me the whole trip though.
It really does seem like there's subliminal messages in the media. Mostly it seems like it's directed towards consumerism. Buy this product, you look good if you look like this, etc. It's extremely noticeable to me when I'm tripping.

I can't stand it sober let alone tripping! I'm watching less and less television because it puts me in a bad mood to watch it, and I don't even really enjoy it when I do. One of the things I can't stand the most is facebook, that just gets to me. Not only do they data mine you for huge profits, then they advertise to you! I deleted mine years ago after I got it to see what the hype was about. I don't know I just find all of it unsettling.
That's really weird to see that! I wonder what they are preparing us for... China takeover, Asian president, Panda Express going out of business Who cares!
If you ever see that guy on the street, ask him for us!

I know I said I've watched TV while tripping, but really it was only towards the end of a trip. I never had the need to watch TV while peaking... come on now... no one should.
Indeed I almost never watch TV, sober or otherwise. My TV doesn't get turned on for days at a time. I think it's sad when people watch that shit for hours every day. Life is more fun to experience rather than watch.
The internet however, that's another story... haha.

The internet is technology's opiates
I've tried watching it once or twice but I always get distracted or have bad vibes. Looks like you're further off the plug in drug than I am! And I feel you man I'd rather take a walk around and see what's going on or stare at my popcorn ceiling and get lost in my thoughts. I love popcorn ceilings now. If you haven't ever seen one peaking it should be priority number one next time
I have to admit I have a problem: I like survivor wayyy too much. I don't know what I'll do once I run out of downloaded ones. I refuse to watch commercials

The first time I tripped, my drunk friends put in 21 jump street and it was the most confusing thing I've ever seen hahaha. Jonah Hills head kept bloating like a balloon with purple tessellations floating over his face. Then they kept changing from cops to high school students so that confused me as well lolol. That's the only time I've seen it so whenever that movie is brought up that's the only thing I can think of haha.

That's funny I did the exact same thing with that show, except on Shrooms. Amazing shit.
As far as tripping with Television goes, it is not my thing. I do love watching TV as the come down begins. I get a lot of laughs at that stage with television. I always found myself coming down around 4am if I trip at night, and Adult Swim around that time is pretty fucking sick. They have these "TV Shorts" that are pretty much meant for tripping, which is why it's so cool that it's on at around 4am usually.
The ink blot scene in this one is pretty sick. http://video.adultswim.com/xavier-renegade-angel/can-you-cure-my-brain.html
If you let those little episodes play out the next one will begin afterwards, it continues, that's how they play it on TV.

I bet documentaries on space would be neat, too.
I watched the imax Hubble documentary in 3D on mushrooms and it was incredible. I haven't watched Samsara yet specifically because I'm saving it for during a trip.
