Birth of an American Terrorist

Do you guys think that if we were to be attacked again in the future, not once, but many times, such as what has occured in Israel, that you would begin to see Americans turning to terrorism to retaliate?
And what does that mean for our culture?
I don't think that you would ever recruit many people that would volutarily blow themselves up in order to prove their point. We just don't have conviction anymore.

Terrorism is the strategy of a weak opponent. We would just keep trying to hit the mosquitoes with our sledgehammer like today.
Personally I think we should try draining the swamp first. Less satisying to the ego, but far more effective.

according to psychologists and sociologists who have studied suicide bombers, suicide attacks are most likely to be committed by people with utterly no other hope of military victory over an opponent.
Seeing how America has such a huge nuclear arsenal and military-industrial complex, I don't see a high probability of American suicide bombers, at least not against Islamic fundamentalists.
It might be more possible that individual Americans carry out suicide bombings on their own government, however...

That's what our leaders don't seem to get; Killing people who aren't afraid to die doesn't work!!! Hello?? The only way it can possibly work militarily is if we commit (or allow) genocide on our enemy, killing every single individual who could plan an attack. And that's what it's coming down to. Eventually an arab country or terrorist group IS going to get an atomic bomb and use it on Israel or the US. Unless we foil every plot every single time forever. Or.. find another way to fight to fight this war whose nature is both cultural and spiritual.

Sura 2:191 in the Quran: kill the unbelievers wherever you find them
The bloodshed will continue until all muslims see this as nothing but an artefact of history with no relevance today or in the future.

I found that statement to be pretty offensive. What was the source you found this verse from? Wherever you found it from, half of the verse was left out... [2:191] You may kill those who wage war against you, and you may evict them whence they evicted you. Oppression is worse than murder. Do not fight them at the Sacred Masjid, unless they attack you therein. If they attack you, you may kill them. This is the just retribution for those disbelievers. Did you also know there is a verse in the Quran that states something like this... "Killing one human is as killing all of mankind, saving one human, is as if you have saved all of mankind." My apologizes for not providing the exact verse. Please, don't ever say anything with the words "all -religion,race,etc. here-." Islam is a very, very peaceful religion, remember that.

Took the words right out of my mouth, thank you phEight.
This isn't the first time Rhizoid has bashed Islam, either.

Christianity is a supposedly "peaceful" religion too and has quotes like that all over the bible.
But the Inquisition and the Salem Witch trials and the KKK kind of drown that shit out, you know.
I'm not saying Islam is bad or Christianity is bad, but most religions can be used for evil purposes by a person who exerts psychological influence over a lot of people, like Hitler, or Jerry Falwell.

Islam is the only major religion that was founded by a warlord. Islam is no more peaceful than Christianity, which has a history of violence and oppression. Most muslims are just as peaceful as most christians, which is not so strange because most people will be peaceful if given the chance.
I don't see what you find offensive in my use of the word "all". As long as there remain muslims who interpret Jihad to mean physical violence, and who think it's okay to treat "unbelievers" as garbage, the bloodshed will continue. I never said or implied that this is the position of all muslims. You must have misread that part of my statement.

That's right. But I have bashed Catholicism even more. For some reason it seems to be more politically correct to do that.

My religion says that it is politically incorrect to follow any religion but mine, so you should sign up, because then bashing other religions actually earns you points.. once you get to 2500 points, you get to Heaven. ahem. Peace.

AMerica has used terrorism in the past. We had trained Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch to bomb a Cuban commercial airliner, killing 73 people. Luis Posada escaped prison before being tried, and found shelter in Venezula with the CIA backed Nicaraguan contras. Bosch found shelter in Florida, where he is protected from extradition by the US governement. Even when Bosch blew up a ship with a bazooka at the Miami harbor, he was pardoned by George H. Bush. THis information is from the book "Addicted to War".
