Ok, I believe psychedelics CAN cause a state of psychosis but it's much different from schizo. They used to think LSD creates a model for psychosis but they now know it doesn't. However, that belief helped to create the first antipsychotic drug: thorazine. It was made to have the opposite effect on serotonin receptors and guess what, it just happens to be able to knock you the fuck out. But let me say this again, the confused state that can be caused by psychedelics is different from schizophrenia in my opinion (and lots of other peoples).

There's something I have to say to the guy that said psychedelics can CURE mental disorders. Please, if there's anyone here that has a mental disorder, please don't listen to him. I've seen first hand how it brought out bipolar disorder and I know it can do the same for other illnesses.

you NEED to be in a calm and welcoming environment, especially if you're doing high doses. it's nothing like doing DXM where you simply don't care and you just tune it out. there's no way to IGNORE it on a psy trip. you have to be ready to confront or you will freak the fuck out.

I know what you mean OP. But for me it usually only holds by itself for about half a month.

At that point, if I haven't noticed and integrated what it was the psychedelics did to my mind- it just reverses back to where it was.

So it's kind of a fun game in a way  I always pay close attention to my trips.

Don't make the mistake of thinking psychedelics are a cure for your brain and that it automatically fixes everything.

It requires your participation for any positive and tangible outcomes to settle in, you might just have done it without noticing (if this isn't your first day after the trip *cough* afterglow *cough*)

Maybe you should learn how to use the reply function before you start saying ppl dont know what the hell they are talking about because it said " Re: Liquidglass "

And your post was vague enough to where you did not really say which opinion you hold. You claim people do not know what they are talking about. And your post was right after mine, saying it was in reply to me since you do not know how to use the reply function.

No need to go calling people dumbass when you do not even know how to use the forums properly

just accept

then make the change after the trip, put to use what you learned about yourself

psychedelics wont fix anything, but they can give you a break and make you see your problems from new angles
so you might get a better understanding/overview perhaps, but not necessarily

it depends on how you trip, just ask yourself Who am I inside?
have I changed during my life?

Aah, nice to read one of those "life changing" stories where one has such a positive change of perspective. And quite recognisable.

Shows how beneficial/therapeutic a trip can be under the right circumstances.

im happy to see so many people have felt the same effects.

It's interesting, you read posts from the shroomery and see a group of intelligent, peace loving individuals. You don't see spamming and flaming here. It proves that psychedelics can tune the mind in a positive direction. mushrooms are one of the best mental tools we have, when used in moderation.

^^Well idk...IME.. I've never got anything close to psychosis on any psychedelics and I've had many ++++ & +++++ trips. I get mental clarity. Stimulants GENUINELY Mimic psychosis, psychedelics don't. Yea they can cause anxiety. I've had my mind erased but it wasn't anything close to psychosis. Just cuz ur hearing things in ur head doesnt mean it's similar to being schizo.

Also I'm very interested in mental disorders as I study pharmacology, neuroscience, and psychology. I would know if I was having psychotic symptoms. Psychedelics can make u crazy... imo not psychotic, two diff things.

exactly. stimulants destroyed my cognition, exasterbated my social anxiety and lowered my self esteem. Psychedelics reversed those effects.

I didn't say it CURES mental disorders. I think it can help with anxiety/depression based mental disorders and certain types of bi polar (due to the ego softening) in a controlled setting with a therapist. Like 90% of ppl with mental disorders have a type of anxiety disorder. Don't put words in my mouth

Yes I know exactly what you mean as I have experienced similar experiences. It seems to occur more so on LSD. Whenever I have this psychotic/schizophrenic occurrence I quickly think about my Dad and my Mother. My dad being a lonely Bible thumping Christian, and my Mother being a depressed negative person who can't be in public for to long...and if she does she complains about it endlessly.

The occurrence comes and I have to overcome it by saying it's just part of the drug/experience and it is part of my biological make-up...But it is not me! I am not that person! I'll just try to do something different to change the thoughts, which is usually pretty easy with LSD.

I've found that the best thing to do when faced with some dark shit and overwhelming things is to lay down and completely relax. Let it flourish as intensely as it has to without the slightest interference via tensing your body or mind. In other words- meditate and behold the results after the storm has passed. You will not be disappointed  some of my best LSD and mushroom trips were by far those that at first seemed like building up to a very bad and intense trip. Of course, it's not always so easy to let go. Depends on what subject the experience touches I suppose.

I think most long term users find that the positive changes are temporary. There are exceptions, but almost all of them go away with time. I'm not saying this to be a downer, but just be prepared.

What feels like a permanent change may be gone again one day, so enjoy it now while it lasts.

I agree. But usually, when you flow through the experience the way I described just before- you don't have to integrate what you experienced later, when sober  (which is the only way to keep some tangible good outcomes). Instead, once you reach afterglow, you have a clear view of what you learnt and how it can help you later in life. These lessons are nothing like utter enlightenment or the empowerment of a tripping psyche, just little things. Little things you seemed to need the most at the time. Just the right thing. Just enough to continue your journey once the power of the afterglow fades, as it rightfully should  I've tripped quite a lot and I'd say I've had maybe 3 trips in which I truly gained something tangible and apparently permanent that helped me with my life afterwards. All these trips, one of them in particular, had the element of 'bad trip' and 'rebirth' in them. Go figure  might just have been coincidences, but w.e just gonna flow with it. Tripping never likes to be completely defined anyway. Leave lucy some wiggle room, she likes to be mysterious and I endorse that
