You guys are gonna hate me but I got the spores before I could find brf and Vern so I spent 75 for them plus fungi stammers jars. Anything I can do till then? I'll show a pic of a store with shitty ingredients maybe

Buy a cheap coffee grinder and some brown rice and make your own brf
Go to a horticulture/hydroponics shop, or a plant nursery and buy some vermiculite

you can buy WBS(wild birs seed) and grind it down to a flour that will replace the brf..
also try home depot buy a big bag of construction vermiculite and grind it down so its finer... but dont grind it too much..

I've never gotten skunked on finding vermiculite or perlite at a garden center. Not just the garden department at a department store, but an actual garden center. Even managed to find smaller bags than the cubic yard that Home Depot is so fond of carrying.
For BRF, most grocery stores carry Bob's Red Mill products. If you don't have a grinder to buy rice and make your own, although it's pricey, Bob's Red Mill has worked well for me.

Like liquidglass said you can make your own BRF with brown rice in the coffee grinder. If you substitute the BRF for any other grain it absolutely needs to be pressure cooked. PF Tek is just about the only one you can get away with steam sterilizing without a pressure cooker. Any Hardware store will have verm in the garden section.

NOT TRUE... if you grind wbs to absolute flour it doesnt need to be pressure cooked.

Ahh ok. I've never actually made WBS flour. I thought it had to be PC'ed like regular WBS. I used to only use WBS, but lost a bunch of entire batches trying to get the moisture content right. I've quit using it entirely.

Any grain can be thrown in a blender and turned to flour. But you still need to PC it to be safe.
A coffee grinder is not necessary.

he's right any whole grain flour can be steamed just like the tek but to be safe if you have a pc use it if not i would add some time to the steaming
Rye flour cakes have been made by members here many times. Intuitively, one would think you need to pressure cook rye flour cakes, but lots of guys have steamed them with success. Look below at the Similar Threads links for a few. RR http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14506425#14506425 i myself did countless jars of wbsf with simple steaming with great success with 120 minutes
