The Fruits of My Labor
    #19293697 - 12/18/13 02:53 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Day 41 of my first grow. I'm really excited to see mushrooms growing. It's been fun taking care of them and watching them grow.

Looking good, it is always rewarding to get results from your first grow

You will slowly learn the best techniques and fine-tune your operation over time

I really wish I could get back into the hobby but my circumstances just dont permit it currently

Anyways, Good job!

I hope you didn't soak the cakes with the growing mushrooms on them he meant to dunk the dry cakes with no mushrooms on them. Anyways looks great for your first time.

That's exactly what I thought he meant! Is it bad for my mushrooms to be soaking in water?

As for the other cakes: the reason they look dry is because I redunked them last night and put a fresh layer of Verm on them.

it's fine you could have picked your big fruits first, pins will handle it no problem but fruits that are ready to pick will get a little water logged if they contact the water which really isnt a huge deal either, and yes thats exactly what your suppose to do and after 6-12 hours put them back on your foil:thumbup:

no dunking is for post harvest, when your cakes are getting dehydrated during the flush itself you wanna mist heavy/put moist verm on top/or use a saucer of water for a few hours

Next time I'll pick the bigger fruits first. Like you said, it wasn't a big deal. Here's a pic of my my very first shrooms ready to dry.

Thanks everyone for commenting.

After the second dunk you do not need to re apply a Verm layer.

I see they are sitting on jar lids. Do those have holes in them? I used jar lids with holes for inoculation pnce and the cakes wouldn't want to fruit. Also it kinda makes the lid get all nasty and rusty, it's best to just use foil imo

I didn't like that the lids were getting rusty, so I went ahead and put foil on them instead. The one thing that I don't like about the foil is the little pools of water that accumulate after i mist.

Here's a picture of my second cake fruiting. I re-dunked the other 3 cakes about two days ago, so I'm hoping to see them fruit within the next 3-5 days.

cut the foil back to be just a tiny bit bigger than the cake itself.  May help with pooling.  It don't need to be that big.
