No-Pour Questions: GE/Humidity/Formulation and appearance

A few months ago, I began no-pour agar. Initially I had observed what looked like mold in every culture, so I removed everything, and started over.
Multiple prints were started again, and again growth that was very 3 dimensional was realized. It "moved" with the shape of the growth outward, and would eventually lay down.
I have had no troubles since cleaning out, but still have noticed this behavior. I am seeing this in 1/2 pint, 1/4 pint and 2 cup pp5 no-pour, with small polyfill ge ports.
Once the mass covers the surface of the agar, the surface dies down and it observes as everyone else's photos look. I simply accept that it is growing this way for a reason.
It seems to be no more than the mycelium reaching up...why?
Does anyone know if this is gas exchange, humidity, nutrient content or stimuli to having wedges cut?
I cannot get a photo that is worth what I am describing one bit.

I can reasonably assume that the mycelium is reaching out to see if there's anything there to eat. The humidity is most likely high and the fungus "thinks" it is underground so it's behaving as such. Hope this helped to shed some light.

This is the intelligent logic I was looking for. Thank you!

it will feather upward consistently, and in the direction of the branch (if that makes sense)
