Indoor Garden

So,this is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year.Well, whoever said that, must live where it's warm all year round, because it's the most horrible time of the year for me.It's freezing cold out,and I wont' be able to do any outdoor gardening for at least another four months!I however do,have my mini indoor garden to keep me busy, and I would love to see what you all have going indoors as well,so lay em on us My garden also was currently in the basement, but even with a heater it got too cold,so I moved them all upstairs, including my butt too

They are very resilient. I like small ones. I had one that was 4 ft tall and growing all over the place and my wife made me uproot because it did not look nice. Needless to say i got no balls and complied.

Don't I know how resilient they are!I had a huge one, that I had no room for anymore,so I gave it to my mom.Well, her garage burned down, and that sagao was in there. Now get this, the leaves, and stump were totally burned black, beyond recognition,as well as all er other plants, and stuff in the garage.Well, she didn't want to throw the sago away, and she put the burnt stump over on the side of her house, and not more than two months later, the first green growth started, and now that damn thing is more healthy than it ever was before all that happened. They are survivors for sure, and fire doesn't even phase them! Also, never listen to a woman ferrel

It gets to be about 90f in there proper ventilation is my number one priority before spring comes around. Believe it or not the tomatoes are actually doing a lot better than a week ago. They were all almost falling over they were so wilted. The tropicals I have seem to almost like the heat so it isn't all bad. The kratom grows like crazy and the caapi's are doing pretty good

Yeah, that's pretty warm man,but it seems everything is doing fantastic regardless Can you not put a small fan blowing on them?It will help with air flow, and temp, plus makee them stronger overall:-)

I have a huge fan blowing on them, it almost feels like you're in a wind tunnel! I also have a small exhaust fan circulating air out of the room but neither have really made a dent in the temp. And to add insult to injury when the light goes off it drops to about sixty And it's only running at 360w...
What are the specs on your fluoro? It looks like it's doing a pretty damn good job

Beautiful plants! Nice set up! Those lights will over winter, but they are far from sunlight. Watch for etiolation, that will be a sure fire sign of too little light.

I see,but any air flow is better than no air flow I paid $13 bucks for my fluorescent fixture, and the bulbs are cheap 40 watt ecolux. Not sure what type of spectrum they emit though.I do know it keeps my plants alive, and thriving, during our normally short winters until spring

Romanesco Broccoli

Garlic and snow peas, and if you look next to the railroad ties you can see some earth has been moving around. I found a partial track which looked a lot like raccoon. I am unsure how I will be dealing with the uninvited guest as of right now. Probably will need to be investing in a live trap...

Champion and French Breakfast Radish sprouts.

Poppies are coming up, I just did another planting of them. (can't tell you why the bottom of the picture is doing that...)

little white onion sprouts, sorry for the shakey img but it was starting to rain and i was like ERMAGERD!

buddha's hand citron bloom

tangerines getting pretty ripe

Yea I need to transplant that tree. I can't seem to pin point the real issue with why its looking like that and blooming profusely. The PH is correct and I use the same nute mix with the tangerine and the tangerine is fine. It puts on like 100 blooms, most of them drop but still yields some fruit.

Jealous of those citrus trees POWA. I'd love to grow me some citrus, just don't know what I'd do with in the winter. If I ever get my greenhouse dialed in (still drops into the 30's at night in there) I suppose I could toss 'em in there.

OP, How much did your grow light setup cost? Since I don't currently have a yard to put my cacti outside, they are by a window. I'm thinking about buying some grow lights to add the amount of light they get. What would you recommend that's not super big or expensive, but will help accelerate growth?

With windowsill where cactus can get occasional strong Morning sun or mid-day sun, you can use easily and decorate way these long fluoro tubes hanging above window.
They are not perfect but combined to light of windowsill, they'r better than no lights at all.
Also these long fluoro tubes are very low cost and nice in house if they'r installed above windowsill. If you'r cacti have sun from window as well as with ambient lights fluoro bulb will give some more.
One example is I notice with columnars: they doesn't starts to grow so much towards the window if they have even some "white color" fluoro lights above them, so yes.. fluoros are only good to boost up windowsill light or lighting to 1-2yo cacti.
But a windowsill makes things very different, fluoro is just good extra and they are long living and give pleasuring ambient light to room same time.
IF you want cheap, good, regular and something fits in to your decoration, obtain some long fluoro tubes hanging above your windowsill somewhere 5-10inch away from cacti plants.
Fluoros are good with extra light, they are not so strong enough the disturbs any people.
I have basically noticed any windowsill comes very good and cactus grow nice from small boost of cheap lights. But plants will need really few hours of occasional direct sun also, fluoros are just good to add some more light to plants at windowsill, most of the light source are still sun.
I have only good experiences with growing lights and windowsill combinated. Because my climate, cacti are mostly indoor hobby for me..
I have used myself about 180€ to lights etc, two light HPS 250Wattage and 150Wattage MH. They are to mature ones. Then I have few fluoro bulbs to seedlings and so on.
I think to move away bright lights from window and change them to smooth fluoros when I can use them over winter and also at spring and fall as extra light to windowsill. They'r cheap to keep compared to HPS and MH even they'r seems to be best for fast growers.

Thanks for the quick response Intelligent. I noticed at a certain point in the day, the sun is in the right spot to get direct light to cactus, but this is only for an hour or so, and the rest of the day is indirect light. So adding some grow lights seems like it could help. I live in a really warm climate, (it's 85f today), but I live in an apartment so I don't have a yard to plant outside.
P.S. Your English is really awesome! What country you live in?

That would be hard pressed to call that a grow light set up:-)I'm using a $10 dollar shop light from walmart, and the bulbs cost me about $8 dollars for a two pack:-)

Ahh this is good news. I saw a similar set up being sold at home depot for $50. I'll probably swoop it up after Christmas. My next apartment I'm getting one with a deck for sure so my plants can be outside. I move in 6 months, so I'm keeping my eyes open

Do you keepher outside during warmer temperatures? It would be very hard to bring in my ruby red grapefruit tree.
Yeah,I think that one actuality is a ruby red I grew from seed and gave her.One of them is.I don't know which one,so I just called them all lemon trees.Should have just put citrus:-)These also go out at the first of spring, and stay out until around November. Why would you need to bring yours in?you have a perfect climate for citrus!

I see, well back in Florida,it got in the 20's and sometimes teens every winter, and it never affected any of the local trees.I guess they were all adapted to such extremes in temperature.I'm going to start up some more form seed, and do a bonsai grow with a few:-)
