I do good for those who I care for, and for those who care about me. I'm also neutrally good to everyone and everything else.
This raises another question, do we not have a basic right to live as conscious souls?

The biggest reason I am alive and supported at this point is because I put myself in harms way so someone else wouldn't have to (a draft).
I still don't see any reason why this should be the case, I really don't deserve it. I did a lot of the damage myself.

Can't say I have a good reason, I think of done good for people before but nothing too big. I've worked in the medical field, and working on having a career in the medical field. That's pretty much a huge goal in my life is to be able to change other peoples lives in a positive way.
But as of now, I'm pretty much a burden to society.

i don't believe thats the kind of 'support' that was meant. Though correct me if i am mistaken. I interpreted support as parasitic, as in you are not putting in equal amounts that you are taking out, a la welfare, charity, etc.

Yeah, that's not how it works... as someone stated in response to you already. There are plenty of people that don't put in anything and may not have done anything to deserve it (like me for instance).
I understand people get welfare and social security so they can survive and some people need it for good reasons.. But what you just say in your last response doesn't go for everyone.

I don't really know why society invested in me. I'm no Steve Jobs. I guess society took me in when I was young hoping I'm the next Bill Gates or something. Then again society takes every kid to maximize its chances.
I wasn't one of the lucky ones born with a passion and the opportunity to develop it to a maximum at a young age.
I dunno what the future holds for me but one thing is for sure; The future isn't what it used to be.

Well to be honest, I have recently discovered a passion in reading. I began by reading paperback fiction books. I now moved on to books that can teach me stuff. I'm currently reading some of Richard Dawkins work about evolution.
I don't know how this kind of knowledge will help me. It's not something I can monetize. It seems that monetization of your passion is what is encouraged in the society we live in. Maybe one day I'll stumble upon a book that truly gives me an idea I can profit from.

Not to simply ridicule your question but no one deserves anything but to die. There are processes that are generally self sustaining both biologically and culturally and you are merely caught up in several of them. Its nothing more or less than that.

I wouldn't say people on welfare are thieves. One could argue that by simply existing and needing foodstamps they provide a benefit. For example, if all of those folks up and vanished, so would a large portion of wal-mart's profits... I understand that that's a stretch of the imagination, but it does demonstrate how everything is connected.
And by the way, yes, if you ever went to school, drove on a road, or purchased something with legal tender, society has invested in something to make your life better- in you.
Annnny way. I take in my neighbors garbage cans every now and then, helped my other neighbor move a couch not long ago. It's the little stuff.

That's fine. Some of us enjoy the clean drinking water, sanitation, electricity, and the rest of the comforts society provides. I'm not one to tell you that you have to participate. You should probably get rid of the computer society helped you obtain, and stop posting using the electricity it helps provide.

Working at McDonald's provides people employment, which (at minimum) increases the tax base and helps them not be leeches on the system.
As a whole, McDonald's provides an incredible economic stimulus to society, as well as other things like the Ronald McDonald house etc. So yes, I'd say McDonald's helps.

I fed the homeless once for probation. Like literally diced up some veggies, mixed up some batter and hand served plates to all kinds of homeless people, it was actually a really cool experience. There were families with kids and shit lined up, it was nuts.
My line of work has been customer service and sales, and i've had people call in who honestly just needed someone to talk to. I've had some serious therapy session type of calls before.
Yesterday i gave 5 dollars to one of those feed the children things. At first i told the dude i didnt have change just bills then thought, fuck it why not. I was gonna buy more weed with that money too, but just smoked what i had.
If a stranger needs immediate help i'll lend a hand, i hate when people just walk away from situations where someone's in need.

You should probably get rid of the computer society helped you obtain, and stop posting using the electricity it helps provide.
clean drinking water is the only necessity in that paragraph and that used to be easy to come by until corporate-government conglomerates decided to start privatizing it. they seek to control it because their industrial era machinations threaten to pollute the globe irreversibly.
this computer and electricity happens to be a tool in this reality that can be utilized, doesn't mean i need it or even would be sad if it went away.

I paid taxes ONCE...and I occasionally buy stuff. I don't really like modern society. It's too much like a long white sterile hallway for my taste. Modern society tried to help me, I rejected it. Now it burdens me and I'm a burden to it. I could have done good in school and applied myself, maybe got a scholarship but at that age, who gave a fuck? Now I wish I could go to college but I can't be taught, I don't believe much of what I'm told. Modern society is unbalanced and once you lose your footing, it's hard to get up. The lack of opportunities is slowly getting slimmer as well.

One of the few baristas at an independent coffee house downtown... I give people their coffee and lace that shit with whatever I'm thinking everyone should be feeling that day.
