first bulk grow, 27 qt monotub PICS

alright guys, cakes in my SGFC are taking their sweet time going through the second flush now, and I have another batch ready to go and no space to fruit them, so rather than build another SGFC and get more perlite, racks etc. I decided better use them as spawn so that way I start getting my feet wet on bulk grows while all my grain jars finish,so here we go
supplies:
fruiting chamber -27qt Sterilite tub, with six 1.5" holes in typical monotub fashion -tape -clear plastic liner 2 mil -slats

spawn -13 brf cakes 100% colonized

bulk substrate
1-half a brick of coir 2-1 quart verm

I'm gonna be pasteurizing my substrate following frank's tek and crumbling the cakes as spawn.Shooting for 3+ quarts of spawn and 5 quarts of bulk substrate for a projected 4 inches sub depth
got some cooking to do tonight
wish me luck fellas, any input and tips would be appreciated
-spawned to bulk 12/18

-colonization progress 12/20

-100% colonization achieved 12/28

-introduced to fruiting conditions 12/30

-side pinning 01/05

-first flush(206.7 grams wet)01/10

we are in business! pasteurizing as we speak

I had to add an extra half quart of verm , because substrate was too wet, seems franks formula doesn't work very well when reduced to scale or maybe my brick of coir didn't have enough coir lol
Anybody knows how long I need to wait for the substrate to cool down enough at room temperature to mix it with spawn? would love to get down and dirty asap and get this tub done tonight

Just from what i've read (have yet to do my first grow) most teks say overnight, don't be such an eager beaver :P Are you planning on misting every day? Im not sure if small mono tubs also don't need to be misted or fanned every single day.

That is untrue. I have read numerous times, 80-90 degrees is perfect. My substrate was 90 degree, when I spawned to it.

Past. Temps are 140 to 160. Keep your probe one the center then you'll know exactly when it's safe to spawn; )

That was a bit uneccessary, It stays hot for a long time after you pasteurize it, indeed 80-90F is ideal, but that can take up to 16 hours depending on the volume of the bag.
PS beautiful pic, almost looks like cocaine

Good point. Never gave amount any thought lol. Be sure to take great notes while growing it will help in future grows.

I am new and this is actually my first post. I apologize if you already said, but what type of substrate are you using? I am also curious about the strain. I am about to start one of my own here soon so I am reading up nonstop!

I was actually asking the OP. I have been reading on these boards for years but just finally decided to join today. Unfortunately I am not familiar with this posting stuff. Reading is way easier.

good point, damn it was kinda hard to get the temp up on my stove
I had to reheat 3 extra times, first time stalled at 102F, then it stalled at 130F and then at 152F last time I turned the stove back on only 4 mins so it peaked at 158F, I guess it will take a lot more tweaking to get this thing right because the numbers were all over

substrate is: -coco coir(brand eco earth)half a brick -vermiculite 1.5qts -1 cup of gypsum -2.5qts of water
"strain" is pink buffalo, although all those "strain" names are usually more of a marketing gimmick by vendors cause all cubes look pretty much the same, the ones I've grown and the pics I see on these site all the time, except penis envy.
and welcome to the boards...

I completely agree. A cube is a cube in my eyes, but the fancy names keep me excited. I was mostly wondering if they were cubes or not. My grows have all been cubes or pan cyans in a martha setup. I have never done anything smaller but I am planning to do pan cambos in a monotub next week. I am far from a pro so reading teks and logs has taught me quite a bit very quickly. I wish I had pictures to post of my first ever grow in a martha. You would all get a good laugh.
