Pans in December!?
    #19289296 - 12/17/13 04:06 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Habitat:
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.
Horse manure in pasture
Gills:
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.
Dark purple or black , working on a print
Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
About 4 or 5 inches in length it stains reddish purple, thin fleshy
Cap:
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.
About a half inch to inch across, seemed to be darker around the edges until it dried to a nice golden all over
Spore print color:
Very important!
Workin on it!
Bruising:
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.
Bruised a little bit but was fallen over already by the time I found it...not blue like cubes do
Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills. Will post pics

Ive found pans in winter, mainly antilliums. But that doesnt look like a pan, especially the stem. How thick is the flesh of the cap?

Probably Deconica coprophila or Protostropharia semiglobata.

Not a coprophila...the cap is somewhat thick, not flimsy

I think the stem is too thin to be semiglobata but I may be wrong...seemed to have a nice umbo. The bruising set in a little more now and the stem is very redbrown

I think merdaria is what this is... The red discoloration and umbonate cap.  By the way thank you for your quick advice

Deconica merdaria has a bit of an annulus, and I am not seeing that in your photos.
