Any tricks or hints for P. makarorae

Hi!
I would like to ask the members of shroomery because of their huge experience with the more exotic species. So, here is the question: What kind of grain and/or additive do you use as a grain spawn recipe for P. makarorae? THe mycelium grows very thin and fluffy (but it´s clean, tested on agar) and looks a little bit greyish (much weaker than mycelium from species of the serbica complex!). I used rye grain and a mixture of rye grain, straw and little wood chips (beech). All jars look the same. Who have hints for this species?
Thanks in advice!

Thanks for your replies! Ok, I read a lot (thanks for the links!) and think, that I have to do a lot more experiments. The LC (honey, water) works great and the mycelium grows well in this media (after inoculation with multispore). Inoculation of rye grain and other rye based substrates with spores doesn´t work well. As I described above, the growth is very slow and not very dense.
So, do somebody has experiences growing this amazing species, starting from spores and not with agar/tissue culture?

i've only seen inski do it, and any exotics usually will be done with agar

If I understand correctly you are trying to inoculate sterile medium with spores collected from the wild, this will almost certainly result in contamination, it is essential to start with agar so that you can be sure that you have clean cultures before inoculating grain.
I would not attempt to create liquid cultures with wild collected spores, the only way to tell if it's good is to inoculate agar with it, in that case it would have been better to start with agar!
I reread your original post and you mention that your culture is clean and has been tested on agar so now all you need to do is use your clean agar culture to inoculate grain.
The mycelium of this species is quite slow on grain with the first inoculation from agar(up to one month for complete colonisation) but if a grain to grain inoculation is performed the speed of colonisation can be halved.
When inoculating grain with agar wait until about one quarter of the jar is colonised then shake.
Temperatures will need to be between 5 and 15°c for about three weeks for fruiting to occur, if a fairly fine substrate like sawdust is used this species does not require a casing layer but definitely benefits from one as long as it is properly prepared and applied thinly.

Thanks a lot inski! Thats what I wanted to hear! And yes, I tested the print on normal MEA-agar and it was clean. From the same syringe I did a LC and also some jars (and it is more convenient for me to use a syringe, but I have a laminar flow hood to, but i´m lazy). Thats why I asked. But thank you again for your very helpful hints!!!
