If your loved one had a serious addiction.
    #19287887 - 12/17/13 10:18 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Hypothetical: You have a loved one that is seriously addicted to a substance, and the addiction has reached a point where the person doesn't give a shit about anything except the drug.  He/she will likely die soon from it.  You have a magic pill that will cure the addiction instantly and has no side effects.  He/she refuses to take the pill.
Would you slip the person the drug without his/her consent?
You may choose only one

No.  Magic.  I'm talking instant and permanent addiction cure without any side effects.

The question is so far-fetched it's hard to imagine what I'd do.

The only far-fetched part is the magic pill.

It's really hard to watch someone you care about destroy themself when they don't have to.

It's not my life, no matter how much I love them. The resentment from being betrayed wouldn't fade, in fact it would probably push them to go back to drugs.

I would slip them the pill. :yesnod:

After when they were cured, I would  not :nono: tell them the truth of what I had done.
I would encourage them belief that GOD cured them, or they must have done it by their own sheer will power, or that they must have been abducted by aliens :dancer:.

After all, the truth is probably the last thing they would want to know.

I'd slip them the pill.  If all they cared about was the drug, to the detriment of their own wellbeing, to my mind they're mentally ill at that point.  Mental illness sometimes needs intervention for the cure, and as he person is loved by me, I'll do what I can to cure them.

Once mental wellness has been established by the magic pill, I'd tell them the hows and whys, and if they went back to the drug I'd abandon them rather than take control of their destiny again.

Then I'd probably have to watch them die :frown:

I am not so selfish as to prevent someone killing themselves if they wish it so. It is up to the individual..

And thus begins the  reverse-fusing of our one-dimentional understanding, and adds ever-expanding perspectives, in depth and number; splitting our perception, and in so doing, seemingly irrationally, creates yet more one-ness, with all that ever was, is and will ever be, streching across the infinite, inunderstood concept of everything, percievable and not.
