Tripping while on lupus
    #19287705 - 12/17/13 09:17 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Sadly my girlfriend has lupus which causes pretty intense pain in her body. I got some acid not long ago and I tripped but she didn't want to take it that day because her body really hurt (she says it almost feels like arthritis) and she didn't want it to ruin her experience or cause a bad trip. Now, I heard someone say that LSD can relieve pain sometimes. I'm just wondering if anyone has lupus pain and has tripped before. I want to know if my girlfriend could do it without getting painkillers.

Hi man, I haven't lupus but I have some experience that may help you.
Recently I had an accident at work and I hurted my right feet, without breaking any bone but I wasnt able to walk without pain for more than 2 weeks.
On the beginning of the second week I received some L and my friends were so excited about it that one night we decided to take it and walk around the old part of the town while trippin. It was an awesome night and I didnt feel almost any pain in my feet, and we walked for about 3 hours no stop. Even if doctors said to me to do so, I wasnt taking any meds. Not because I dont believe in meds, but because Im pretty down hurting myself and resisting pain.
Must be said that we drank some wine too, something like two bottle in three persons, even if Im pretty alcool proof.
I dunno how strong is your L, but I dont think it can cause badtrips if dosed well. Obviously you must not force her, just try to ensure her it will be alright. Also a friend of mine was a little scared on her first time but after it she felt so amazed that next one she want to dose double

I think you should focus on the setting, because she may want to move and see other things while under it. So maybe preparing a nice set with lot of atmosphere and things to see/do without moving would be best.
Obviously if moving cause her more pain.
I once read that mushes and cacti were also used for fatigue relief, so I think that even if she will always slighty notice her pain, she will be more distracted.
One more thing to consider is that I find L to be a lot clearer on the mind than mushes. Maybe because I stopped smoking weed. But this should help a lot with avoiding badtrips.

Hallucinogens are weird in that if you are in pain they could either make you forget about the pain or they can make you overly sensitive to the pain, and then the pain becomes the only thing you can focus on.
I have a family friend that has lived with lupus since the early 80's, on good days when the pain isn't so bad she smokes the medical and can function somewhat normally. On bad days she's all PK'ed out and still in pain.
I don't know how it is for your girlfriend, but if she has good days and bad days, I would suggest she dose on one of the good days if she feels up to it.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Oh definitely man. That's the most important part. When I got the stuff, she said she was gonna trip. But I sat down and explained to her that it's not like getting high on recreational drugs for fun - that she was gonna experience a lot of introspective thoughts and experiences that may be hard at points. I explained to her the pains but also the positive things. What she decided is that she wanted to take it another day when her pain was more manageable and I made sure to let her know that I'm happy she made that decision because it wouldn't have been best to do otherwise if she didn't fully want to take it.

And as for the setting, it's awesome. Comfortable, can walk around, etc. No stressors.

THAT'S exactly what I was worried about. The thing is she has a tendency to focus on the pain. It's debilitating to her sometimes but she tends to not try to distract herself from it. That's my biggest worry about the whole thing, that she would put a lot of energy into thinking about it. I also don't want it to make her feel bad because she has this disease, you know? Best case scenario would be if she were to be distracted by other things and not even remember the pain.

I appreciate both of your input.

I have RA (Rheumatoid arthritis) and Lupus is in the same family ...(auto-immune) disorders, I believe. I agree with the guy above...she should pick a "good day" ...also, the only thing from my disease that becomes relevant is the vasoconstriction. This can be painful in my extremities (mostly feet) during the comeup...I have found that niacin helps this quite a bit, as it is a vaso-dilator.
Whatever you do...for her, make sure it is a mild dose if and when you choose to partake.:peace::sunny:M

Wait, lupus causes pain because of the vasodilation?? If this is true it would explain why analgesics like aspirin don't really do anything. Maybe there's a vasoconstrictor she can take for the pain...

Think you misunderstood me...vaso constriction is a side effect of certain tryptamines (mushrooms, LSD,mescaline)...not necessarily a side effect of the diseases we are talking about...but when I trip, the vasoconstriction causes pain in my joints that are  affected by RA...not sure why, but taking niacin to dilate the blood vessels helps somewhat. Hope that helps.
As far as her pain....some other anti inflammatories like motrin should help more than just aspirin...I had to go to methotrexate because the other stuff didn't work...methotrexate actually slows the disease.

Does she take pain medication like an opioid or something? Even if she doesn't a 5mg/500mg oxycodone/acetaminophen pill or similar would surely help and it wouldn't effect the trip in any negative way at all. The LSD might actually help the pain because it's also a NSAID (non steroid anti inflammatory drug) like naproxen or ibuprofen etc.

Yeah that's what we're gonna do. She's not prescribed it but most of the time I help her get some.

Thanks for the input everyone. Now the situation is clearer in my mind.
