My guess is that the nitrous oxide is actually already a liquid when it is in the canister, otherwise the phase change from gas to liquid would be a very real danger.

:orly:
QFT lets see yes it is pressurized gas but to turn nitrogen to liquid it has to be cooled to -400 f and oxygen has to be cooled to somewhere in the mid -200 f range so unless OP lives on Mars or further out in the Solar system then it ain't happening. Thanks for coming out ! :crankeyclaus:

It's pressurized, you fucking goofball. Pressurization can easily turn a gas into a liquid. Check it out:

Erm no it is a dense gas  even at sub freezing temps it will not liquify even if it were to rupture the only way it would be harmful is if tou stuck a body part directly  into the streams of the gases esscaping. and it would cause frostbite at worse.. So QTFT. but then again if you wanted to win a drag race you could clip the end off and point it into the intake while sitting on top of the motor.

Boiling point is dependent on pressure. Many compounds that would be gases at room temperature are stored under pressure as liquids. Inside the container there are two distinct phases, liquid at the bottom and pressurized gas at the top. When the temperature goes down, more of the gaseous phase condenses and becomes liquid and the pressure reduces. Nothing dangerous about that but as Wiccan says the container will be easier to damage at low temps.

May all the :underage: who  either don't know simple physics or who who know just enough not to be sure if more nuanced considerations need to be factored in find this thread when they google about nitrous :sun:

IT IS WRITTEN

And thanks guys. The tanks I believe are aluminum, as are the seals. I just decided it's not worth risking.

Yeah, I guess the positive pressure is already high so the jump in negative pressure under hypothetical liquidation would not be a problem. Pretty sure it would already be a liquid though.
