The sheer mystery of present existence

So this guy came up to me once, I was sort of associated with him. He was outspoken and a bit of an independent thinker (but not very smart) and he'd been watching me sort of be so contemplative and kind of confused and awkward socially and he goes,
"Pricey... it's life!" and made a motion with his hand as if to say, geddit?
I think this is a popular standpoint for a lot of people. I think I understand the gist of it, like, that we should just take it for granted. I mean, that's really all it says, is to take life and existence and everything happening for granted.
I think this is psychologically a bit of a trick we play on ourselves. It is appealing to our make up, to take it all for granted.
But also, I think this amounts to a kind of ignorant conformity, we sort of just slot into the status quo, and it works because everyone else is doing it.
But more obvious than life being life, is the position that there is no life, that there is only this moment, and without any reasoning it is purely unknown. It is the "felt presence of the immediate experience" of the moment that is the outstanding evidence that we do not know anything. It's not a hope that it's a mystery, it's not a device to attain meaning in life, it's an actual experience.
So, like, you guys realise this right? That if you present yourself to the present moment of reality, you are right in the midst of a situation you have no idea how it began, what it's doing, or how it will end.
This 'it's life' business... I think it's the wrong idea.
Discuss.

I agree. This thing called life is so outlandish and crazy how could you look at it like that? A smart man once said . -Terrence Mckeena "You are the sum of your direct experiences so go out and experience yourself." Refreshing to see others contemplating this thing and seeming just as befuddled as I am. But I think the answer is some where... If we could only know where to look... hmmmm Where to look... Oh well good luck figuring this all out!!

i feel ive had a strong resistance to life and not going along with things and it has not served me so well.. there is probably a good balance one can strike, being lost in heady thoughts is all well but it sucks if it effects your ability to interact and do shit (imo)

Why would you consider this person that said this to you to be 'not very smart'?
I say he knows the answer, but does not know the question.
And you know the questions, but cannot accept any answers.
What you seek is somewhere in between, more subtle than deep contemplation and the keep it simple attitude; mindfulness, flow, tao- it's a slippery eel.
But once you've at the very least grasped it for a second, you know what to look for

you put to much in it, let it put into you.
you are the present moment too, ya know. its not just an experience its what you actually are. this is why the mystics say that we forget. its in reference to you already being it.

(if that was meant for me)
I'm sorry I'm not into the whole conceptualisation of time, the self, enlightenment, etc. I'm an experience type of guy and think that fancy mysticism and words turning into sophistry is just as counter productive as plain ignorance and arrogance towards the beauty of life.
