Emulation with improved resolution

So I just found out about this.
If you have a pretty good gaming rig I'd totally recommend you to emulate some PS2, GC(/some Wii), and Xbox games. Turns out there are some pretty awesome emulators that can render these old games at high resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.
I've been playing Zelda: Wind Waker and it looks INCREDIBLE! Really cool to get a chance to go back and play some great oldish games with a really nice boost in graphics!
Also been playing Pikmin 2, We Love Katamari, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart. All with my trusty Xbox 360 controllers!

I used to do SNES and Genesis emulation, but these new ones (particularly PS2 and Gamecube emu's PCSX2 and Dolphin, respectively) let you crank it up to 1080p in 16:9 (assuming your PC can handle it) and the improvement is pretty great.
Makes it feel like you're not even playing an old game (for some titles, anyhow)!

What titles would you recommend? I know I have a few of the titles that were on PS2 on the PS3 remakes.. like the metal gear collection and ff vii.. I also have the originals of viii and ix.. Shit I forget what else i have.. but yeah I can't really think of what all I should check out. I damn near beat windwaker on gamecube when it was out a long time ago.
I think my shit could handle it.. I dunno.. I can run 3 monitors alright and I was running splinter cell ultra with surround screen so that should be enough right?

Specs on your PC would be more helpful.
From what I understand CPU power is the most important for emulation. I'm running AMD Phenom II 3.4ghz quad core and I can do just about anything without slowdown.
I've been searching google for best gamecube games and best ps2 games (seperately, obviously) to get ideas for games. There are lots of good ones out there! Look around and see what kind of games entice you.

Really, though. Wind Waker looks absolutely fantastic in HD. I saw a friend playing it on his actual GameCube the other day, and that's what got me going on all this.

Yeah I will have to do some digging sometime.. I just got a ton of ds roms and some 3ds games for my 3ds... and I got a huge backlog for steam and console games so I probably should start knocking some of those out lol.. but I will probably fuck with this soon.

Yeah I think you should be fine. Maybe some games you'll have to turn it down to 720p (or 720i? I don't know.) Maybe.
It's definitely not plug and play. Be ready to tinker with the settings. There are plenty of articles written to help out, though.

I mess around with it when I'm bored and don't feel like doing anything else but yeah it would probably be better spending my time killing the backlog I've already built up lol.

Gah, have to go dig up my PS2 and find an old playstation game and everything to dump the bios. Why not just play it on your system if you still need all this stuff? Does it actually look a lot better?

Try this emulator out. http://www.ppsspp.org/ It's the shizznit, and It's about time someone made a working PSP emulator! All the games I have for it are playable in full HD quality, and play darn near perfectly!Heck,I don't even own any console systems, except for my NES,because I have every single game ever made for most of the old systems, and a ton of games on the newer systems! All playable on my PC with my Xbox controller through the use of emulators They are also 100 percent totally free!!!!!!

There ya go. BIOS for every region.
Yes. It does look a LOT better. Plus the aspect ratio change is very nice for playing on a new TV.
And I'm doing this because I never had a PS2, and I gave my GameCube to my younger sister ages ago. I had an Xbox, too, but no playstations after the first one. Now I can catch up on all those exclusive titles!

ah cool, Thanks!
So your not using your own games then? You downloading them and using a virtual drive to run them?

I think the emulators open the iso's directly. I don't believe you need to use a virtual drive.. Not sure though

You don't need a virtual drive for any emulators:-)
