honestly a handful or two of gypsum with coir is all ya need, any other nutrients could give foothold for contams :o
Had great success with verm coir and gypsum as my bulk sub

if your adding bran it will need to be sterilized not pasturized. just chuck a handfull of gypsum in pasturize once your spawn is ready

As stated above, this will increase your chances of contamination.
Also, wheat bran is very nutritious, so it will slow down growth.
Pasteurizing is like giving a head start to your mycelium. Because it's already established, it outruns any contaminant molds, so it would be better to give the contams less time to establish themselves on the substrate and pasteurize right before you spawn, or, if you want to pasteurize now, refrigerate your sub.

Ok so if I do want to add some Bran I would slow down my mono, and in turn that could cause contamination... Not sure it is worth it at this point. I don't want to risk contaminants !
I think I will leave it for the next time when I feel like experimenting.
Thanks!

Rice bran is a substitute for BRF in a PF cake, maybe wheat bran is too. You can search all about bran on the forums there's plenty out there. It's not a ingredient for a bulk substrate though, putting that in with your coir is a sure fire way for nasty mold spores to germinate and that will rip through your coir before the mushroom mycelium can. Spores find it hard to germinate on coir but mycelium will rip through it. Don't let spores germinate on your bulk substrate by using a nutritious ingredient that's not already fully colonized. Nutritious ingredients need to be fully 100% colonized by mycelium in a sterile environment before they're ready to be introduced to any bulk substrate.
also pasteurize your coir when you're ready. I wouldn't save it longer than a week and it's recommended to use withing a couple days of pasteurization if not within the same day.

just for cubes right? isn't wheat bran the 'supplement' in any 'supplemented' straw, sawdust, etc. bulk sub?

yes it's a bulk ingredient but needs to be sterilized and not pasturized
