First time spore syringe frustration...

For some reason, when I try to draw the boiling water into the syringe I can only get the syringe halfway full, the rest is always air. Is it possible it's leaking air somehow?
Also, when I cap the syringe it looks like some of the water has leaked down into the cap (this is on both of the two syringes I made). I'm not sure if it's somehow leaking from where the needle snaps into the the syringe or if it's the heat forcing some of the water out. Should I seal the needle into the syringe with some sealant?

leave the tip in the water even when theres air, it will fill up, and gravity will naturally draw that water out so store mine needle up,next time save the little cap

Take your time and slowly draw the water up patience is the key to this sport.

1. Stick needle below surface of still boiling water. 2. Pull back plunger while keeping needle below the boiling water surface. 3. Allow water to fill syringe. 4. Remove from water, shake, and allow to cool for 2 or 3 min. 5. Purge water into the sink and repeat steps 1-4 about 2 or 3 times. 6. The 3rd time do not purge the water. Cap the syringe and set aside to cool completely.

why Don't you just pasteurize some water in your pressure cooker and let it cool in your glove box...in say a pint jar, and draw water out through the lid????

So you're saying that the problem is that the boiling water might be causing air bubbles? How would it draw water more smoothly from a pint jar? Not sure if I understand..
