They'll pick up their pace once they pass the two year mark, don't worry.
Damn, Ferrel. How could I be mad at you for creating something so nice?

I lost one 2 rot. And I had those and I was thinking at how nice they would look like in the natural habitat. Them I thought, I hope this works because I would hate to lose these beautiful seed grown specimens. They are such resilient plants man. I have some esperanzae seedlings about 10 months or so old and I want the ready those in a year or 2 for some beautiful rock creations.
Hey zed, you got any recommendations as to what other cacti I can grow in those tiny crevices? I'm thinking maybe some aztekiums. I have a huge aztekium graft and I want to take some pups and try and root them and when the tiny little root buds appear I will set them down on the rock.

I've heard ou can't root Aztekium pups under an inch in size, but they would probably be very much at home in such an environment. Some Turbinicarpus of the T. lophophoroides group or Mammillaria of the Lasiacanthae series are others that spring to mind.

I wonder why that is. I love very much to be able to root some out. The graft I have has so many good sized heads on it. It warrants some experiments.

An update on some seeds sown Nov 2014, and have been eating stone for the past year.
The second pic is L. williamsii var. Texana, the rest are var. Cuatrocienegas.

I think it's time to share my 3 pots of stone eaters. They are slightly etiolated because I didn't want them to go dormant so I kept them warm behind a windowsill thourgh winter.

My loph seedlings are also stone eaters. And they are in stone since they were born. Lost some the first months because some of their tiny roots didn't make it through the too coarse sand. Next time I'll put a thin layer of low grade sand and try to bury the seeds a little bit more and/or sow them in the right way. (germination eye facing soil.)

Man oh man. How long have I been away? Great stuff guys. Glad to see more join the stone soil revolution. I got 2 strombos that survived the transplant to rock. The rest, 3 of them, died. I'll take pics tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Just transplanted 3 babies. Can you spot them? One is super obvious and the other 2 only a trained eye shall see them.

Pelecyphora aselliformis in a rock mix topped with gravel, showing signs of life. Received as a gift last year it got potted up and spent the winter in a greenhouse, yet to be watered in my care
