Those caput medusae are little but not in rock. Only thw grafted cause because the stock is of the rock loving kind. Cant remember right off the bat which one it is but its a common stock.

Now it seems this fissuratus has stalled on the flowering. Simple solution? Repot. And boy did it need it. It was stretching the poor pot out.

The plant.

The pot. 1/4 full.

The roots. Beautifully eating rock.:inlove:

Tah...dah...

I love the raised look in fissuratus. Some i have at ground level and this one is raised. Not fat or bloated at all.

Go easy on the water for a long while, Ferrel. They really dislike being moved and a plant that big may take longer than a season to pick up where it stopped.

Beautiful plant, man.

I havent watered it yet. Last time it got watered was the last time it rained about a month ago. I know how delicate big ones are. Ive read they only should be transplanted in dormancy but that pot was way too constricting.

My other one i transplanted around this time of year and it flowered about a month later. Almost december. The other has fatter tuburcules.

Your comments are exactly thw thoughts in the back of my head. I know it was a risky move but i went ahead anyways. Hopefully my haste wont bite me in the ass.

I think I remember a ferrel quote "I don't mess with Those Ariocarpus plants anymore" I do remember you telling me that one day when I was hoping to trade for seeds with you.

That plant is a beauty and I pray in about 10 years mine will look very similar  :excited:

My A. fissuratus was 1" across when I bought it 17 years ago - so probably about 21 or so now.

So.... Today I noticed my mini cholla dropped a pup and it had rooted!

I thought of this thread and said well shit since I have two cholla already why not trying something new?

I put the little pup in nothing but pebbles and stone... Wish it was smaller stone as she doesn't seem to be settling in very well.

Anyway here's some pics. I'll update on how she does.

Haha yeah it was a pup on my biggest  mini chollas outside and it fell off with all the brain we had this year, I saw it sitting in the pot and picked it up... It had a pretty long skinny tap root so in the stone went!

I used new aquarium gravel for her... I rinsed it vigoriously before using it...
Will the aquarium pebbles work?
