I wasn't aware that it doesn't apply to Pereskia... Although...

Yeah it was. Thanks for chiming in.

Pereskia aculeata climbing up my garden wall.

The presence of areoles confirm it is a cactus.

My only experience with Pereskia is with P. aculeata. The leaves probably would be considered non-succulent but there are hints of it, they're thicker than your average tree leaves and the texture can be a bit rubbery almost, a bit like a much thinner Pereskiopsis leaf. The stems are just purely woody though and don't resemble the flesh of "regular" cacti at all. Drought resistance is still quite good though, mine have survived some serious neglect.

By the way... Opuntia subulata has some decent leaves too
not sure about how permanent they are, but i have seen exemplars keeping them for over a year.

As do some Quiabentia - but again I am not sure when in the plant´s life cycle they are present.

My Pereskia acts like a deciduous tree - the leaves drop in the autumn, and grow again next spring.

There is no fuss. I just always wanted one. Maybe just to hybridize with my caput-medusae. They are rather weird.

I'm not talking about you. It's just that this side of the ocean (and further away in Japan and China) there's a growing number of people that collect Astro Cultivars like they're rare Pokémons.

Yeah i know who you are talking about. Some spanish guy named carlos from cactus cultivars. Nothing very special about them except weird growth.

Or buy some seed too. Now seed is like a feedbag. You never know what comes up.
