Interesting recipe, but is it the granite in 1 and mica schist in 2?

Looks like granit. Mica is way brittle. I need to get more though.

No specimens but look. Rock sand FTW. im gonna buy some seed and plant them directly on it.

I sifted the mix with the pots I use. Just added more holes of the same size.

The mallacht asked me if, when it dries out, does it act like cement and no it does not. After it dries it just crumbles back to fine rock particles. Also works perfect to fill in the cracks as the some the pieces are really big.

 This party's just getting started.  I assume it will be very prudent to not disturb the pots too much so that the fine roots may stay firmly attached to the minerals in order to extract the most nutrients from their surroundings.  I can hardly wait to see the progress on this in another 6 mos to a year.  Good stuff. :stoned:

Its a monstrose type. Pups profusely and thanks for the kind words.

Edit- I put the collection next to my tamarind tree. If you dont know these, they have little thin leaves that would serve the purpose of adding nitrogen to soil just like leaves from the surrounding brush fall around cacti in the wild. I just let the tamarind tree do its thing and it feeds my plant slow release food.

What is is rock? Just collected some outdoors. [Re: LSoares]
    #20201725 - 06/29/14 01:32 AM (9 years, 6 months ago)

There's picture from rocks I've picked from yard etc. Anyone know rocks better to tell what surface-layering rock would be?

In my mind that rock is beautiful rough black-white coloration done by nature.:sun:

I've used to collect rocks but there is so much of different ones, this time I picked handful of these to get one pot surface filled, I use those rocks from my yard for lophophora plants in pots, few or so...

Thanks
:eskimokiss:

Doesn't the nitrogen come from the rain and rocks?

Nitrogen comes from the atmosphere. Nitrogen fixation is an amazing process.

I had read about this but didnt really understand it. I assume most cacti in nature have leaves and debris scattered over their rock home and with time it dissolves to give them nitrogen.

Here is an interesting article I found.
