This is a long shot since I found the mushroom a few years ago but didn't know enough about mushrooms to actively identify it. I had no access to the internet or a working camera at the time.
It was found growing in a grassy clearing in the underbrush of a small plot of mixed deciduous forest. About 6-7 inches tall with a clean white stem that bruised blue-green or blue purple, I can't recall which it is likely wishful thinking to remember it as blue green. The stem was about 1/2 inches thick and had a golden yellow cap on top. The cap was about 1-3 inches across. For some reason I neglected to get a spore print.
Found in a location similar to this.
Artistic rendering of mystery mushroom.

Location would be the middle of upstate New York, close to some of the finger lakes. I don't expect a species ID just some ideas as to what it may have been. I've been unable to find a photo of a mushroom that looks like it. My apologies in advance for substituting a sketch for a legitimate photograph,as I said I had no camera at the time. The colors in the sketch aside from the bluing are as close as I can remember. I do remember that it readily bruised with a blueish tint. Just unable to recall whether it was predominantly blue or purple blue or green blue.

you might look at Hygrocybe conica
i've found young ones that are pale yellow and start to bruise blue/green and then eventually goopy black
also, Hygrocybe marginata stains bluish when young

I think you are in the right neighborhood. It did not fit any of the photos of those species that I found on google. But some of the hygrocybes look just like it so I'm sure it fits in there some where. One of the images that looks the closest actually came from shroomery
The only difference was the cap was a little lighter in color. I definitely think that it was some kind of hygrocybe, Thank you. I've been wondering about it for years.
