With a monotub, say your just getting your first pins and you notice its lookin a little dry in there. The poly was to loose or fan was too high... anyway its lookin dry..
What would you do at this point?

Would you mist only the walls at this point to bring up the RH?
I know while fruiting its alright for the RH to drop a bit but what if the pins are just starting and the walls are all dried up?
Is it bad to get mist on pins?
Any thoughts on this scenario...

Not really... Just mist until your substrate "glistens" but doesn't look wet. And give it a good fan over once or twice with the lid of the mono if your too worried about applying too much moisture back into the mono tub. No reason to mist once or twice a day if you think it's getting to dry. Constantly opening the lid will fuck up micro environment you have in there.

That's not what you meant is it?

Don't follow :/
Yea, a light mist. Don't directly mist the pins with the bottle right next to them. Just mist(lightly) from the top of the mono and let the mist fall naturely to the sub.

Are you misting the walls to or not?
I thought you meant no reason "NOT" to mist once or twice a day if its dry.. right ..

Lol. Well, if you lightly mist, some will hit the walls regardless if you aim for them or not. You don't have to focus in on an area to mist. Just mist lightly until your sub glistens. Your walls may glisten as a result as well. And yes, if it is dry, you can most once or twice a day. Just try not to over do it since constantly opening up the tub will fuck up the microclimate in your tub.

really don't want no overlay on top of your substrate, grounds for contaminates to grow. But yeah even mist the walls and not directly on your substrate and that usually works for me.

when it's still wet/moist. dont mist then. I've heard RR say you shouldn't mist at night, because your lights turn off and the sub can get overly wet. mist at morning, directly at the sub. the walls don't grow shrooms so no need to mist them.
also, the condensation on the walls of your mono doesn't indicate high RH, it indicates a difference in temps inside and outside of your mono. mycel is living and thus creates heat.
mist till the substrate glistens, then fan out the chamber. repeat when sub is dry again. give it some time to be dry, should not be wet all the time.

The mushrooms I have love to be misted including pins as long as the water don't settle on them.

I've typed at least a thousand times you should mist the substrate if the substrate is dry. Misting the walls is somewhat strange since we don't grow mushrooms on the walls. It can't be for humidity because we want our humidity to be formed from moisture which evaporates from the substrate.
The important thing is to always allow the misted substrate to dry out somewhat. Fresh air exchange is how you accomplish that. Never mist and then seal up a tub. RR
