Friend's wife left... can't figure this one out...

Here's the story that I got.
After a few years of marriage, friend's wife packed up while he was at work. He came home, she sat him down on the couch, said said she was leaving. She walked out, and moved back in with Mom, and filed for divorce. End of story.
Any ideas?
Obviously there's stuff that I'm not being told... should I pry? I've asked gently... questions were side-stepped. Should I pry? I can't help but wonder zomgwtf happened?

Should you pry? Of course not. Be a friend. You could tell him that if he wants to talk about anything you're there but prying is pretty shitty IMO. Let him talk about it on his terms, if he wants to. I'm sure it's pretty difficult for him.

I'm not seeing how this is your business. I know you are concerned, but the guy is about to lose his wife, he'll tell you why when he feels he should, he's probably focused on his marriage right now lol

He's a close friend and he's calling me a lot to talk about it; not the specifics of what happened, but a lot about the feelings, facts, and logistics of the whole mess.
I'm being a very good listener, but at the same time, I can't help but wonder.
