Getting started with agar questions

I've been looking on myco supply for everything I'm gonna need to get started. There are a few different Afars they have available. It seems that the malt extract or the potato dextrose seem to be the most fitting for my purpose. Any recommendations on those 2? And also are these Afars premixed so all I add is water?

Either mix will work OK. Some growers like to switch media every year or two, so it wouldn't hurt to have both. RR

That is what I've read. I was gonna start with MEA. How often do you need to switch them up?

I haven't switched in ten years, but then again I keep all my cultures at very low cell division counts. Even my 20 year old cultures have no more than 5 to 10 days of room temperature growth on them. RR

Good info. I'm gonna be purchasing your videos as a guide for all this. The most "intimidating" thing I see is deciding what to isolate and what not to isolate, and making sure I'm not overlooking isolates.
Thanks a bunch
