Hi I'm going to start growing P. Cubensis (B+) very soon. I need go grow discretely because my room mates disapprove of this sort of thing. I live in South Florida and the average temperature during the day is anywhere from 60-80 F this time of year. I am wondering which tek I should use for my situation. I would just buy a kit and put it in my closet but the mushrooms need to be experience sunlight so they know which way to grow, correct? So any tips for a first time grower that would increase my yield while using a discrete set up?

1. Don't be a dick. Don't put your room mates in that situation. That's a mega asshole move.
2. Kits are the as seen on TV shit for mushrooms, they barely work and are just good enough to get people to pay for them. You can grow more for less if you buy the supplies yourself and have a brain.
3. Get your own place and come back.

Thank you very much for the information about gravity. And I've had my mind set on growing for a while and it's sad to say, but I'm a stubborn person and I'm going to go through with it. Would buying a few kits and putting them in my closet be a good idea?

kit grows are always a horrible idea. Kits are garbage. See here.
Even better one of them is going to narc on you some day, Have fun with paying for dealing with a felony charge it's thousands of dollars. If you want a good yield and potency you'll have to do strain isolation on agar. Cut corners and just shoot spores into a pre made bag and you're going to get some shrooms but they'll probably look like shit and be half as strong as you're expecting.

Again I am not looking for advise for anything that does not directly pertain to mushroom cultivation. I'm moving out in a month or so, so I may wait until I move out. Say when I move out, which tek should I use as a first time grower? I am looking to cultivate a decent sized yield with decent potency. And for said tek, is there any tips you guys would have to offer to improve the speed of growth/size of yield/potency of mushrooms? Thank you very much.

ok well for disclaimers sake: once you move out the pf tek is a great place to start the learning proccess, mono tubs are great for yield and simplicity, potency is something you will have to work on as you go using agar and cloning

Could you explain the pros and cons of the pf tek vs. The mono tub if it's not too much trouble?

the pf tek is simple and cheap and requires no pc and will teach you everything you need to grasp before diving into bigger things like grains/mono's like moisture control and harvesting/colonizing/printing ect.

Search through our Sponsors for grow-kits. You may find the perfect kit for hiding unapproved grows in a house with tweekers.

Start with done edibles like oyster or shiitake until your situation change. You can use portobellos for mono tub practice.

Is the mono tub set up reusable? I don't want to grow portebellos and then have to buy supplies for another mono tub to grow cubes.
