Really depends though. Would you get hourly? Paid by the delivery + tips? Tips only? Cuz in my time delivering pizzas in one of IL's bigger cities I could make an easy $14-15 an hour on busier nights but on slow nights I could go home actually having LOST money.

I had a room mate for two years who was a delivery driver for jimmy johns. he hated it.

said they make customers ask for napkins and a straw even when a drink came with the order. so if you get a soda and don't specifically ask for a straw you get Jewd. that's how cheap they are. and they now have a delivery fee and the drivers don't get any of that. and because there is automatic delivery fee people aren't wanting to tip as much or at all.

sucks ass for the delivery guy and the customer.

I delivered for Jimmy John's years ago.  I would make between $15 and $25 a night, not in a college town.  It was great for me at that time in my life. Gas was around $1 a gallon, and there was no delivery fee, plus they gave me 50 cents per order for gas.  I delivered pizzas too and I liked jimmy johns better because the sandwiches didn't stank up my car like pizza does.

I've delivered pizzas and sandwhiches at several places 7.00 cash pay and my hourly average after expenses was almost always around 14.00 an hour total. around Christmas time it jumped to about 16.00 So no you ain't makin 20.00 an hour. Period end of story that won't even happen in fantasy land anyone who claims otherwise is either stupid or lying or maybe both. But 14 an hour cash ain't bad money for driving food to where it is most happy.

I have known a lot of people who worked at jimmy johns. Two of them managers. As some one who has done delivery jobs it's the shittiest imaginable. You use your own car and still have to do other work. When you work at a pizza place you don't cook, drive, and clean you just drive. I guess making minimum wage on top of working might be worth it. But I'd rather go make 6 at a pizza place where you aren't some one's bitch for an extra 2 dollars an hour. From cleaning toilets to preparing food, fuck that

edit - and you can make 20 dollars an hour if you only work at dinner or lunch rush. Jimmy johns has a really small delivery area too. So assuming you're delivering the whole time you could probably make bank at a busy location. Assuming you had good hours on the rushes only. You're never going to sustain 20 an hour unless the business is unbelievably understaffed at all times.

A little old, but Jimmy Johns is NOT the place you want to work at. TRUST ME. Employees are EXPLOITED to no end, the management all sucks each others' cocks, especially the GM's cock.

As a delivery driver, Jimmy John's will be one of the worst places you can work, unless you are in one of their concept stores which is cranking out about $2,000 worth of delivery orders per shift. Even then, the entire trick is to make the store money, not the driver. To be "freaky fast" they will overstaff drivers. What it boils down to is this: The customer expects the world of you, but they typically will have only ordered one sub or a few, and believing that you probably have already made a delivery fee (which you haven't) you will be lucky to get a $1-3 tip.

Now let's look at hot food delivery. First off, it should be mentioned that almost every JJ's does 70% of their business during the lunch hours. Hot food delivery is a dinner thing. For whatever reason, people are willing to splurge on dinner moreso than lunch. You're much more likely to run into entire families ordering at these places. Depending on the demographics of the customers of the store, families do tend to tip much better % wise. Factor in that they will be ordering food that is more expensive than a sub, and that they will be ordering in a good amount of it, the average price per delivery ticket is going to increase. This means that even if they stick to a strict 15% tip, you're walking away with a lot more money.

It's part of Jimmy John's corporate management policies to be deceiving to drivers. It's also a common practice for them to single out in-shoppers who aren't the norm (less intelligent, perhaps maybe in their lower 30's and yet still working for minimum wage) and promise that if these people work their ass off, they will be promoted to manager. However, JJ's has a strict image when it comes to their managers: they want them to be clean cut, good looking, and YOUNG! They just lie to these in-shoppers to make them bust their ass with promises of promoting them because "As a company we promote from within!"

They make a tasty sandwich, but many of the people in that company are deserving of a strict beating

JJ's also has a store policy that managers wear belts. WTF i'm a guy of course i wear a belt.

i think that's why they called me back and told me they didnt need me, because I said "dude. I wear belts, wtf."

I didn't say wtf but you get the point.

During the interview, my GM told me I would get between 20-25 hours a week and that I'd be put on schedule for 11-3 monday to friday. I was lucky to get at least 15 hours a week but most of the time less than that.

I'm well aware of the store policies- I suffered the horrors of going through Jimmy John's Corporate training (and quit promptly after lol)

Here's how anal retentive they are about image- You can't smoke when you're at corporate training. Whether you are in uniform or not. For the entire three weeks you are there. You can't smoke a single cigarette. Then they tell a story about how they ran into three trainees who had grabbed lunch at a local Hooters and were enjoying a cigarette afterwards. They sent these trainees home, and denied them corporate certification.

Whether this story is true or not is another story- They're liars. A big squad of corporate devils. I would like to go back with a baseball bat and hurt a couple of them. I've been around some shit, being part of the drug counter culture. But never in my life have I seen so much evil congregated into one place as at Jimmy John's corporate headquarters. It's fucking palpable in the air!

At jimmy johns, they "teach" you exactly how to spread on the mayo. If you don't do it the way the GM likes it, he will keep bitching about it. It's just fucking mayo dude. It's just a fucking sandwich.

You're required to make the sandwich in 30 seconds, that's why they make you spread mayo a certain anal retentive way.

Yes you can make 20-even 35 an hour delivering and I am no liar or fake  I assure you.It depends how fast you are and the area you deliver to i average 20 an hour at pizza places I work now but Like ten years ago i walked out with like stripper money size wads of cash sometimes. These days gas is alot and people havnt changed how they tip in ten years when money is worth 1/3 what it was then so you have to find a busy place with only a few good drivers like i said most people just don't get how to be fast as shit and safe though or get strung out when they get back and have to take 5 deliveries and leave right away and forget where they are going ,you got people bitchin and forgot a salad some people cant do it.
I used to deliver in an old honda civic that had been busted into so it only played the cd that was stuck there for 2 years !!!  it was the Mr. Bungle clown album car .i had o kick the headlight to work and my windshield wipers were busted so i tied fishiong line to them and with my hands moved it back and forth while deloivering and making 25 an hour still!!!

There's no taking down Jimmy John's man. Jimmy (*cough* Mike Liutidad*cough*) has an intense team of corporate p.r. people spreading a fake-ass corny image. The stores have to be anal retentive clean so that the nice soccer moms and people with money in the world don't have to believe the terrible terrible things they do

But really, most corporate food service that has broken through the nation wide level has policies just as awful as these. There's nothing unique in corporate food service: fuck the employees, get the big wigs money. In fact, I think that's corporate America in general. Some industries have found ways in which your average joe can learn a thing or two and make a living in his day, but the food service industry is still stuck on some Rockefeller shit

Your friend can sue jimmy johns. Tell him to get a good lawyer. I forget the whole thing, but I believe he can sue.

Yes I have. I've had lots of jobs! I'm a job hopper! But at the same time, the economy and job market suck more dick than a hundred gay guys all in the same room!

Let's see, I think counting ALL of them, even the one's that I quit after like, 1 day, I've had like 17 or 18 jobs.

I've had so many jobs because I only have an AA degree, the jobs I've had paid so shitty, or I just get sick and tired of the job due to customers or management. I just recently started a job that pays me more than I've been paid since 2008, not as much as the job I had back then, but more than the shit jobs I've taken in the last few years. So I'm going to keep this job for awhile.

Only job I ever got fired from was delivery for Jimmy John's!  I was delivering in my college town on homecoming.  Everybody all day asked me if I wanted a beer, and all day I said no until the last delivery I would have been able to do in my scheduled time.  I had a beer at that place and I guess a neighbor saw and called the store.

Got back, got reemed about it.  The dude who was scheduled to take over never showed up.  They asked me to stay.  I did.

Next day, fired.

 Oh well.

It was okay for the month or two that I worked there.  It was a new store.  They had really stupid delivery boundaries that I tried to get changed because it would have made the store more money and me as well.  I was angrily told that the decision was above my pay grade.  Very corporately influenced company.

Would I work there again?  No.  Not at this point in my life.  Was it okay in college?  Sure.

Just make sure you take into account how much money you will spend on gas, and the wear and tear on your car.  You likely won't be compensated much, if anything, for your vehicle use.

Great sandwiches though...The people that work on the sandwich line seem to enjoy it. At least in my small college town. They jam out to music, nickname the food and drinks and shit. It looks like a fun job to me. Delivering though I don't know

The delivery area is beyond the owner's decision even. That's the golden rule of JJ's and by golden ru;e I mean they signed a soul with the devil and every time any JJ's delivery driver surpasses the delivery area, EVERY SINGLE LITTLE FUCKING TIME, they piss blood for weeks

Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

Jimmy don't care. Subs in 20 minutes or less. No exceptions. (This is literally written into the manual- 20 minutes or less. No exceptions. Anything more is a violation of the franchising agreement. They lead the gm's to believe that they can potentially do a corporate takeover of the franchisers store if they are too slow)

I remember in the 80's or 90's, Dominos pizza was sued because they used to have a 30 minutes or less policy and a driver got in an accident.  So Jimmy might care if they are facing a law suit because of their rules.

They already are aware of that lawsuit. There a company of gypsies. They've written the rules so that drivers are expected to run with the deliveries. They're supposed to run from inside the store to their car, drive the legal speed limit (you might sign documents saying you won't speed!) and then run to the customers door

Speed on your feet, not on the street!

My friend mentioned the name of that place a week ago while we were at baseball. The person sitting on a bench near us heard him when he mentioned it. He appeared to be discussing the matter with the person near him. A boy walked by who just returned from the circus, he performed an act  there earlier. He was a talented circus performer & traveled around the country to display his adroit feats. He was acknowledged as one of the greatest circus performers of the ages, & people held national days of prayers dedicated to his acts. His cousin also happened to be working in the circus at the time he was first recognized by the public as a national success. His name would headline as the main attraction of the entire world & people would praise him endlessly.

I know a mate that went to apply for a job there, but they rejected his application. They said while he met the requirements, they didn't believe the information on the documents matched the ones he had on his system of him. They later went on to deny that he had ever attempted to attain a job here, and said that he never even came inside. I know a friend that worked there for a week but then he quit & began to pursue a career as a dentist. He had many appointments he had to attend to, and everyday someone would call him around the same time from an office to remind him that someone recently scheduled one with him.

Sorry I'm not as entertaining as you. One day I hope I can be as amusing as how you appear to be. You always seem so jovial in your manner, as if brushing aside negative comments in favor of good fun. I wish I could form a reply that would, instead of avoiding the threat, counter it successfully with my own artifice.

Exactly. I really believe that Jimmy Johns is a cult. EVERYONE in management literally sucks each other's cocks and they literally enjoy it. Jimmy Johns brainwashes everyone who ever goes into management. My general manager was a complete asshole and he hated me and every week he would cut my hours more and more. One time I had to take a fat fucking shit, I almost sharted in my pants. I told a guy on the line, "Hey this is an emergency I need to use the bathroom." so I went.

When I came back, my GM took me aside and got mad at me. He said, "You leaving the line slows down my service. You need to go to the bathroom before or after your shift." I told him that it was an emergency and that I almost sharted in my pants. He didn't give a fucking flying shit. I should have taken a shit on top of him.

Gee, does it really make that much of a fucking difference if the sandwiches are made in 45 seconds instead of the stupid standard 30 seconds??? Oh my god I'm so fucking sorry I slowed down your stupid sandwiches so much. Maybe you shouldn't design your sandwich shop to not allow for errors.

And one of my friends quit. When this friend of mine was not working on a particular day, all the managers would talk behind her back, saying that she's "annoying" and to cut her hours. I'm pretty sure they all talked behind my back when I wasn't there.

Ok, yah, their sandwiches are OK, they don't have many options at all, no variety. It's like walking into your kitchen, just basic simple cold cuts and basic simple ingredients. All they have is mayo and dijon mustard.

Oh, and LOOKS are very deceiving. They all looked like they enjoy their jobs and jam out and shit...but remember, they've been brainwashed and are all part of a cult.

Almost every rule and policy is designed to take away your dignity. They guys have to shave every day (if you have a tiny bit of stubble, the gm will give you a cheap disposable razor and the cheapest shaving cream. I would always have razor burn and then BLEED because of it. I wouldn't be surprised if blood gets in sandwiches because of this, from other people.

You're literally not allowed to call in sick. You have to get your shift "covered." How the fuck are you going to get it covered when you WAKE up sick? Every job I've ever had allowed me to call in sick so long as it was at least 2 hours in advance. The manager would either find someone to cover it, or would just deal with it for the day.
