Keyword - CAN. Unless you live in a college town you're almost never gonna actually make $20 an hour except during really busy periods (holidays/big sports games/etc)

Really depends though. Would you get hourly? Paid by the delivery + tips? Tips only? Cuz in my time delivering pizzas in one of IL's bigger cities I could make an easy $14-15 an hour on busier nights but on slow nights I could go home actually having LOST money.

I had a room mate for two years who was a delivery driver for jimmy johns. he hated it.
said they make customers ask for napkins and a straw even when a drink came with the order. so if you get a soda and don't specifically ask for a straw you get Jewd. that's how cheap they are. and they now have a delivery fee and the drivers don't get any of that. and because there is automatic delivery fee people aren't wanting to tip as much or at all.
sucks ass for the delivery guy and the customer.

I delivered for Jimmy John's years ago. I would make between $15 and $25 a night, not in a college town. It was great for me at that time in my life. Gas was around $1 a gallon, and there was no delivery fee, plus they gave me 50 cents per order for gas. I delivered pizzas too and I liked jimmy johns better because the sandwiches didn't stank up my car like pizza does.

I've delivered pizzas and sandwhiches at several places 7.00 cash pay and my hourly average after expenses was almost always around 14.00 an hour total. around Christmas time it jumped to about 16.00 So no you ain't makin 20.00 an hour. Period end of story that won't even happen in fantasy land anyone who claims otherwise is either stupid or lying or maybe both. But 14 an hour cash ain't bad money for driving food to where it is most happy.

I have known a lot of people who worked at jimmy johns. Two of them managers. As some one who has done delivery jobs it's the shittiest imaginable. You use your own car and still have to do other work. When you work at a pizza place you don't cook, drive, and clean you just drive. I guess making minimum wage on top of working might be worth it. But I'd rather go make 6 at a pizza place where you aren't some one's bitch for an extra 2 dollars an hour. From cleaning toilets to preparing food, fuck that
edit - and you can make 20 dollars an hour if you only work at dinner or lunch rush. Jimmy johns has a really small delivery area too. So assuming you're delivering the whole time you could probably make bank at a busy location. Assuming you had good hours on the rushes only. You're never going to sustain 20 an hour unless the business is unbelievably understaffed at all times.

A little old, but Jimmy Johns is NOT the place you want to work at. TRUST ME. Employees are EXPLOITED to no end, the management all sucks each others' cocks, especially the GM's cock.

As a delivery driver, Jimmy John's will be one of the worst places you can work, unless you are in one of their concept stores which is cranking out about $2,000 worth of delivery orders per shift. Even then, the entire trick is to make the store money, not the driver. To be "freaky fast" they will overstaff drivers. What it boils down to is this: The customer expects the world of you, but they typically will have only ordered one sub or a few, and believing that you probably have already made a delivery fee (which you haven't) you will be lucky to get a $1-3 tip.
Now let's look at hot food delivery. First off, it should be mentioned that almost every JJ's does 70% of their business during the lunch hours. Hot food delivery is a dinner thing. For whatever reason, people are willing to splurge on dinner moreso than lunch. You're much more likely to run into entire families ordering at these places. Depending on the demographics of the customers of the store, families do tend to tip much better % wise. Factor in that they will be ordering food that is more expensive than a sub, and that they will be ordering in a good amount of it, the average price per delivery ticket is going to increase. This means that even if they stick to a strict 15% tip, you're walking away with a lot more money.
It's part of Jimmy John's corporate management policies to be deceiving to drivers. It's also a common practice for them to single out in-shoppers who aren't the norm (less intelligent, perhaps maybe in their lower 30's and yet still working for minimum wage) and promise that if these people work their ass off, they will be promoted to manager. However, JJ's has a strict image when it comes to their managers: they want them to be clean cut, good looking, and YOUNG! They just lie to these in-shoppers to make them bust their ass with promises of promoting them because "As a company we promote from within!"
They make a tasty sandwich, but many of the people in that company are deserving of a strict beating

JJ's also has a store policy that managers wear belts. WTF i'm a guy of course i wear a belt.
i think that's why they called me back and told me they didnt need me, because I said "dude. I wear belts, wtf."
I didn't say wtf but you get the point.
