So to my surprise I ended up getting some pretty big yiels off these little cakes in cups covered with vermiculite/coco coir. Some of the treasure coast caps are as big as silver dollars. The ones in trays were about half of this.

Very nice.
Some people get a hard-on for huge grows but I like the mini-teks, 'KISSteks', and cute little personal cups also.
Well done. And good pics, too! Thanks.

Thanks man. Its so easy an idiot like me can do it. Lol. But the yield was so much better than just fruiting the cakes. I reccomend it for any one looking for easy , low maintenance, fast harvests.

That's what it's all about. Even if you're doing a larger scale, right?
I think of smaller, personal teks as bonsai trees. Versus the industrial tree farms I always see online... Be cool if every other house in the suburbs had one small cup of mushrooms like yours... on the window sill above the kitchen sink.

^^ Good analogy, and good idea. Maybe people would lighten up and connect with each other easier. Uh Oh, you got me preaching again. LOL.

heh, I was about to say something very similar. funny. gentle use of psychedelics, I think, is our only hope.
ego is the 'enemy'.
EDIT: What do you guys use to seal the tops? I've been wanting to try out a one container grow using pp5 for awhile.

Yes they are BRF. I use coir because the PH is closer to neutral without adding Lime stone. Peat is acidic by nature unless you buffer it. I birthed the cakes into the cups and cased them. Then I covered them with foil for 3 days and put them in the incubator. Then I stuck them in the fruiting chamber. Within 7 days I got what you see here. They would not fruit when I tryed just placing the cakes in a fruiting chamber. I don't have good luck fruiting the cakes by themselves. The casings allow me a little more room for error. For example. If my humidity drops, its ok, it doesn't have to be 100%. Hope this helps a little.

I agree. They are great for testing isolates and clones, as well as doing small ms grows to clone from.

Are you casing grains or spawning to bulk? Fruit size is usually dependent on genetics or available water. Bulk will usually give larger mushies than cased grain, but this is not a hard fast rule.

Not these, there were six of these all fruited in a Mondi tray. They essentially looked identical. They are gardening trays used for cloning. Nothing special at all.

Thanks man Gonna add a few things to it in a bit. Its great when you put something that you have been doing for a year out in the community and get all kinds of good feedback. Might have a few edits on alternatives to micropore soon (seems that some people can't find it) I have just been doing the tests.
Gonna get me some mini bulks going soon, got soooo many clones to test I don't know where to begin. Just fill a SGFC with like 40 of em
