Mini 14 has accuracy and barrel issues but decent gun.

AR - 15 is decent too but its not as robust or reliable as other rifles.  I'm calling it over rated but good.

I personally like a variety of bullpups for their obvious advantages.  FN SCAR is a nice rifle too.

Its definitelt a solid choice for sure, I just find it a bit over rated compared to some other rifles out there.

I don't really like the look of the SCAR.the stock looks like an astronaughts moon boot and looks clunkier than the AR

Firstly thanks a lot everyone for all of the help.

Ya.. The recoil is for sure something that I am worried about.
Seeing as I am a girl a little over 6 feet and am only about 120 lbs.
Granted I dodo have quite a bit of arm strength from years of climbing/bouldering.

And you made a good point about a shotgun, it would be ideal for home invasion type of threat.
Although I'm willing to bet of I'm worried about the recoil from a handgun a shotgun would pack much a bigger punch.

I liked the suggestion of a P99 so I have been looking around.

What exactly is the advantage/disadvantages of getting the 2796325 model compared to the 2796376 model besides compasity and height? And visavirsa.

Another thing where can I expect to see the best deals, gun shows and stuff?

walther makes a good pistol, the difference in the two is really only
magazine capacity and little more length and height on the 625, I opt
for the higher capacity if for no other reason than you dont want to
run out of ammo when it's needed most but hopefully you'd never be in
that situation

one thing I suggest is that you assess your needs with a pistol, of course
target shooting, possibly home defense and maybe concealed carry. when
looking for a concealed carry pistol them you want something small if you
intend to carry it on your body. something such as a Bersa Thunder in .380,
it's low in recoil but carries only 7 in the magazine. for something
smaller but with more recoil (still not that bad), the Ruger LCP/LC380 is a
good pistol, it's very concealable and pretty comfortable, it's also a .380
with a 7rd mag.

to get a better idea of what's out there and things to consider, especially
for concealed carry, here's a short list of articles with a read.
ultimately, hit the gun stores and handle these guns, talk with the guys
working and ask them anything that you feel is a concern including the best
way to carry, for everyone it'll be a little different, I like to carry in
the small of my back because it places the handle of the pistol just above
my wallet (it's usually empty) so I can draw smoothly without calling undue
attention to actions. for you, a pocket holster or even a cross draw
holster may be more suitable. that's what these guys are there for.

this will help initially
http://www.handgunsmag.com/concealed-carry/

a few things to remember, there's no such thing as "stopping power or
knockdown power", shot placement is key so that means practice a lot early
on, you should murder loads of paper, it probably deserves it anyway and
large calibers arent always the answer, a .380 is as deadly as a .45 if you
have good shot placement and the ability to follow up when the first shot
doesnt do the trick and back to practice, you need to practice more than
just accuracy, you need to practice various scenarios that could happen
such as how you'll draw if you're in a seated position, how you would if
you're being pulled out of a car, how it will happen if someone grabs you
from behind. first work with accuracy, then work on accuracy in these
scenarios. shot placement is always key

don't own a gun never will

.45 stopping power

you hit someone blam

i mean you hit someone in the right spot with anything

but a .45 will go through
a 9mm could stop depending on how far you are
they could still be able to react

the .45 will send em into shock guaranteed

9mm are fun probably just for shooting off
not great defense weapons

Awesome thanks for the info!
I'm reading through it right now.

I'm obviously no gun expert but I take it a P99 would be too big a gun for concealed carry.

it's not huge but it does have a bit of bulk, you have a small frame even
though you're tall so there's much better options for carry for your
proportions. I have carries a full size 1911 .45 for years when I weighed
125lbs, depending on what I wore it was very obvious that I had it on me,
other times it was less noticeable. your build would be for a smaller pistol

um... no. even at close range with trained police officers shooting, some
people have survived as many as 37 shots to the torso with a 9mm, some have
survived multiple shots from a .45. contrary to polupar belief, racking a
shotgun will not always send a bad guy running and it rarely ever causes
them to shit themselves

a .45 is less likely to penetrate through someone than a 9mm, it may have
more mass but it has a much lower velocity that a 9mm, that being said,
shot placement is still key

yeah i'll have to look around a bit
but a racked shotgun is better then a hole in the wall

don't know how you know i said that once

the low speed of a .45 is its strong point pris.more energy transfer with a bullet that can be twice as heavy as a 115 grain 9mm

yeah this yt.vid is showing this dude knock em back with the 45.
the info was said off of what this guy said about owners bias and someone else's police study preference

i know people will hold them in one place and snipe but it's pretty alarming how off the wall the bullets are goin out of the pistol at 30 yards
