does being unable to fix anything mean you're retarded * 3
    #19278948 - 12/15/13 11:39 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

because I can't fix a fucking thing

and I don't understand how shit works

like doorknobs for instance

our doorknob broke and my wife fixed it.

It's got a long rectangular piece of metal in there but I don't get how it's connected to the latch or whatever.

I don't understand how a transmission works, how a radiator works, or how an engine works.  A lawn mower engine might as well be a microchip.

I need google images to tell a nut from a bolt. I can't fix a drawer that doesn't shut right. I can't hang my tv on the wall like people do. I can't assemble a normal bed. I can't fix a fucked up zipper. Sew anything. Fix a leaky faucet. Running toilet. Change wiper blades.

I used to be able to change fuses in my car but now that gets me all fucked up. I definitely can't change a headlight or change my own oil.

I know the truth. I'm a fucking retard.

People don't just magically know how to do things, you have to put the time in to learn. Some things you'll pick up really quick other things will take a lot of tinkering with before you understand how and why they work.

Everything passed the state inspection plus it saved them alot of money

I think that just means your visuospatial intelligence isn't very well developed. It is one of several types of intelligence.

I'm not sure what the terms for the cognitive abilities that apply to imaging how something like a door knob works. But your inability to do it doesn't preclude you from being strong in other areas. If you ever take an IQ test and they break it down in categories. Just because you score low in spacial recognition doesn't make you a retard. I took the test and had categories I scored almost perfects to short term memory which I scored literally as poorly as a retard. Not that I think IQ is perfect but it seems to be relatively accurate.

Although I would be worried if I were INCAPABLE of fixing the door knob, no matter how much time was given. But if it was just easier for my wife I wouldn't stress about much besides a slight embarrassment my wife is handier than me.

I install door knobs for a living.... this is hilarious to me

normal door knobs are extremely simple.  If it was a cassete knob those are a bit tricky and you're off the hook

I don't think OP was talking about mounting the knob

He was talking about the blank face he got when he opened it up. Then his wife did his work. That's how I read it anyway.

What's a cassette knob.  I've installed thousands of door knobs and never heard the term.

He's not off the hook.  A GIRL DID IT!
