The power of make-up (very interesting and funny)
    #19277447 - 12/15/13 01:38 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I just ran across this series of pictures. And although it ends in a joke it still make me think about how many 'fake' women are out there. And how easy it is for women to make themselves so different in appearance to their actual self. Not to say men are any better, they just don't tend to wear makeup haha

I thought 3, 6, 8, and 11 were pretty good-looking before the makeup.

I do find it pretty funny when guys are always fawning over these porn star looking chicks with super super heavy makeup. All I'm thinking is, "You would probably not be in love with her without all the art on her face."

Personally, I think that all beauty pageants should have a rule... that none of the contestants should be allowed to apply barely any makeup at all. The problem is you are cheating when you cake on 5lbs of makeup for something like that. You are not going in with your true face, but a slightly modified version of it.

I'm aware of the power of makeup, I've done photography work and always had a makeup artist that would change the look drastically from the subject's original state. Interesting random observation about models: Most of them have TERRIBLE skin.

I really wish magazines and media would just put people's natural state on, instead of applying all this makeup and photoshop to make you look super-human. Because nobody can possibly look like that 24/7, it's just not possible.

I personally never wear eyeliner or anything on my lips, especially for everyday wear. I also don't wear a lot when I'm going out on dates, because I don't want to end up with a guy who ends up being horrified or sees how different I look once he sees me without makeup. But I actually get quite a lot of compliments from men when I go out with them, and they can see what I look like without very much makeup on.

Here are some porn stars without makeup:

But probably the best makeup artist I've ever seen hands down was this. I'd like to hire her for my wedding!

I've always thought the same thing, but then I've never dated someone as ugly as the women in those photos.

Some people really need it. :awedisgust:

A few of them aren't actually bad looking.

The rest, Jesus fucking Christ what a trainwreck of a face.

I also feel like the power of photoshop a little bit for some of those. Face proportions change and I'm pretty sure make-up can't do that.

Ohhhh the great make-up debate.

Would you guys date a girl who looked like some of those women without her make-up on?

If yes, would you want her to wear make-up to improve her looks or would you walk around holding her hand,  proud and happy to show the world that she is your awesome girlfriend?

Or should these trainwreck women just be cast aside to make way for more naturally beautiful women for you to procreate with?

What do you do when you just didn't get lucky in the genetic lottery?

Why is there so much negativity associated with make-up? I can understand feeling sort of cheated because the package looked so good on the outside but not so much when unwrapped. But I don't know, it seems to me like wearing make-up is a sign that you're concerned with improving your appearance, which I associate with taking care of oneself, which is a good thing. Comparable to going to the gym and maintaining good hygeine, wearing clothing that flatters you and whatnot. It shows that you care enough to make yourself look presentable. Who wants to be with someone who just doesn't give a fuck if they look nice or not?

This is making me want to research the history of how women got started wearing make-up and why. It would be interesting to know their reasoning for wearing it. There was a debate about this subject in the Ladies forum and most ladies that responded who wear make-up said that they wear it for themselves to either improve their appearance or because they just like some extra pizazz once in awhile. I wonder how many women feel pressured to wear make-up because they feel like men would consider them a trainwreck and un-dateable if they didn't?

Then why do some of you wonder why so many girls cake on the make-up? It is knowing the truth--that many guys wouldn't give them the time of day if they saw their real face--that makes them feel that they have to put on a mask so to speak, just to find a mate.

Now obviously I am just generalizing as there are always exceptions, but I am just saying that the opinions of society and media do influence the way that people choose to present themselves.

It kind of seems like a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation to me.

Some of those girls' faces just look unhealthy. They have sunken cheeks and eyelids and lips like they have spent a solid little chunk of their lives overindulging in stimulants. I believe that looking healthy = looking beautiful. If you are healthy, you physical appearance will give off healthy, positive energy---there is no need for make-up.

It's not just in regards to makeup - there's tons of negativity to go around simply regarding women here. Unless you are willing to post tits on command.

Guys in general seem to praise Mila Kunis. Have you seen the photos of her without makeup? Would you all still be so hot for her if she looked like that in all her movies?

How many women posted in the naked women thread don't have makeup?

Those here that spout "natural is best" - do that apply to pubic hair too?

And for those who are probably thinking I'm one of those fake chicks - nope - I maybe wear makeup once a month at most and even then, it's very little.

Some girls want to wear makeup, some don't. Whatever. Live and let live.

Seriously, some of them are pretty mangy looking and I still think most of them look better without makeup.

Ballerium, if it makes you feel better, from a man's perspective I can't even understand a lot of guys' sense of attraction.  Sometimes I think they don't know what they want or what they are missing, but maybe that's egotistical of me.

Anyway, you have nothing to worry about.  I've seen your pictures, it doesn't seem like you overdo the makeup and you are very pretty.

Thanks for the compliment. It's not so much that I am concerned about my own appearance. I do wear make-up but mostly on my eyes, and some mineral powder to even out my skin tone because I do not have perfect skin.

It just surprises me that men wonder why so many women wear make-up because it seems like a no-brainer to me. Everyone wants to be attractive and if anything, I feel that women are more pressured to be attractive than men are.

I also think that a lot of men's dislike for make-up comes from seeing women with overly caked-on make-up with bright lipstick and gaudy eyeshadow to match. Guys seem to like that understated natural look which can easily be achieved with make-up, and most guys would be none the wiser.

I know what you mean.  I won't say that I never enjoy the look of makeup, it can be done artfully.
But, especially when I really like or love a girl, I prefer to see her true face.  Loving someone tends to make them glow in my eyes, no matter their physical appearance.
I guess it's unfortunate that so much rides on initial attraction, then.

My girlfriend doesn't wear any make up and I think that's awesome! Make up can be a huge turn off for me.  I think I've only seen her with make up on once, and that for our first date.  And it was only "cat eyes" that were super sexy.

I would actually tend to disagree with this. I think men are pressured just as much as women are, its just that women tend to be more effected by that pressure.
