Let It Roll
    #19278063 - 12/15/13 07:35 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Just let it roll off your back. Distraction can be too hard sometimes, but sometimes there is an easiness to stepping back and watching it all pass by.
Emotions rise and swell and crash back down and float back up to the top and all we can really do is go with it.
It's ok, it's not your fault. You can try harder, but if you feel you're doing your best than what can ya say.
Hopefully we only have to do this once so let's look back on it in laughter.
Have a good time. Have one for me.
Let it roll, let it roll. :mushroom2:

When things come up that need addressed, better to tackle that shit right away, without reservation or procrastination.  This doesn't mean that sometimes no action isn't the best action, but that is more rare.  An occasional angry outburst at no one in particular can be cleansing, just the primal bark at the moon as it were.  Otherwise best keep it cool as you can, man.  That's my plan anyway.  Enjoy the calmness of the morning.

To The Morning.

Am I the only one who finds this kind of attitude to be lazy as hell, not to mention selfish, at times? I mean I get it, sometimes you do have to let things "roll" but I just imagine how many social ills would have never been solved if things had just been allowed "to roll?"

If those women in India hadn't become passionate and enraged enough about their country's deplorable dealings with rape? If they had just "let it roll." If slaves in the old south had bought into the teachings of their church at the time telling them to "let it roll" since they would be rewarded in heaven?

"Let it roll" is great in theory, during meditation, bad sex, or a night out on the town. Maybe in the office, in the corporate world, where politics and emotion can play fast and loose with someone's ability to provide for their family. But "let it roll" begins to sound a lot like "bury your head in the sand.", "sit down and shut up", or "everything would be better if we all just smoked weed man" and it makes my lip turn up in disgust since it sounds like the motto of cowards and swaddled aristocracy.

Not to be confused with "Let's Roll" as those horrible boxcutter armed terrorists were taken down along with a Boeing.

 I think you're missing the point son, and also projecting some of your own shit onto my thread.
I never said anything about standing idly by while human tragedy occurs, don't try and put those words in my mouth.
Letting it roll is a perspective, not a stance against action. One can can fight all these atrocities you have mentioned while still letting it roll.

Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize not pandering to the vague platitude you're trying to call "philosophy" was projecting. Where did you get your degree in psychology from again? I'd just like to let the university know how well one of their students is applying their teaching. *eye roll*

It seems like you were looking more for confirmation of your viewpoint than actual discussion, which sounds more like a personal problem than me projecting anything.

And this is really all you needed to say. You made a vague statement and, when I challenged it, decided to play willfully obtuse. I didn't "put words in your mouth", I questioned your philosophy and presented my viewpoint as to why I disagreed with it. That's called "discussion" between "adults."

Disagreed. You projected an idea on to me from the conversation you've had with some useless hippies before, you came in ready with a viewpoint for a discussion that wasn't being had and filtered through what you had wanted to hear. I mean when did human atrocity enter the picture? I didn't mention that in my description of letting it roll, you brought that in your own description of it (and a lot of hostility with it, might I add).
It's a projection, you've already got some emotion in these words from a conversation that you did not have with me.  Had you asked me if these accusations were what I was suggesting I would have explained to you that they were not. That imo would be discussion, opposed to simply mashing opinions against one another.
Anyhow, I had thought it went without statement that one should not sit on their own hands should they also choose to mold their perspective into a well-adjusted one, but for anyone who might be confused you should also be a functional human being with a strong strength of character.  :teacher:

I have no shame in making vague positive-energy posts in the morning, its time for coffee and wishful thinking and riding the good vibes before we entirely wake up. Of course I'm looking for validation. Who isn't. :sun:

Right. That's what those damn activists/freedom fighters/and vocal dissidents are doing. When Rachel Cory was mowed over in Israel defending Palestinians (she died by the way...guess she couldn't control those tanks) she was just trying to "control a situation to stay safe." *eye roll*

Or when Malala continued to VOCALLY stand for women's education in Afghanistan after being shot in the face by the Taliban she was just trying to "control the situation."

Ew dude. Just ew. Must be nice in that tower of social privilege you live in. Some of us don't have that luxury.

Wtf are you talking about? How do you equate activists with swaddled aristocracy?  Cause it's the aristocracy that are the active ones in trying to control things and other people.  You seem to have taken my reply ass backwards.

People who know how to chill will have a good life in spite of what the world brings.

You sure seem to like to get all worked up. :tongue2: Have fun with all that.:boring:
