Wbs falling through colander pre soak

Hey guys. Cleaning my Wbs pre soak right now. I tried putting some in my colander and quite a few fell through. Do you guys just consider this casualties of war?
Also, is there a temperature preference for soaking?

I just soak my WBS in hot tap water over night with some gypsum in there. When I clean and strain my wbs I just clean the sink before hand and put in the drain plug to catch them. But I did just buy a new smaller-holed strainer at walmart for 15 bux. also has arms to fir your sink size

I have that same one! But it seems to let some through. Looking at it though it may not be much in the big picture.

Don't worry if you forgot the gypsum. Not really needed for a grain soak.
As far as washing your grains try using a bucket or stock pot to wash them instead of a colander. Just fill with water, stir it around, dump the water, and repeat. Keep doing it until the water runs clear.
I used to use wbs but have recently switched to rye berries and wheat berries. They're much cleaner and easier to work with.
