Recommend some exercises to a beginner?

I'm interested in exercising and I'm not exactly sure where to start. To give some background I have never had an exercise routine, however I would consider myself an active person. I am not necessarily out of shape but I want to feel better, I understand that diet is a huge factor and I have been improving my diet lately. I walk in the woods everyday and generally walk for about 2-3 hours on average when I have time. I do sit ups and push ups occasionally whenever I think about it. I am looking for physical workouts that would be suitable for someone new to working out. I have always been more intrigued by working out my brain by reading and learning various things, but I want to get my body healthy and I have no clue when it comes to this, so if anyone has advice on what to do it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

w/o equipment
air squats (doing the motion of a squat w/ just body weight)
push-ups (on your knees if you can't do 'em unassisted)
sit ups, curl ups
leg lifts, leg flutter
w/ basic equipment
pull-ups (use resistance bands to help pull you up if you can't manage on your own
kettle bell swings
sit ups w/ an ab mat
Best of luck with it! Don't delay!

Thanks for the response, I will definitely look into all of those. However my habit of procrastination will make exercising a constant fight. I am confident I can do it though. Would you recommend doing these every day or every other or what?
