I got trapped out in the hills of Killarney provincial park--three and a half days (about 40kms) deep in the backcountry--when a freak blizzard rolled in off of lake Huron.
I tried to keep pushing through it--but the trail carried me up to exposed granite ridges--covered in large snow drifts concealing both the uneven rocky surface and ice patches underneath--took many a fall, but when I almost slipped off the side of a ridge I admitted to myself that trail conditions were no long safe--so I set up my tent the next flat patch I found and bunkered down--during this time the temperature dropped so low (I'd estimate between minus 12-15 celsius) that I was having difficulty keeping my water supply from freezing. I basically sat in my tent, cooking and eating rice and lentil broth--keeping my alcohol stove burning often to stay warm--stripped basically naked while I tried to dry off my half frozen/half soaked clothing.
It was around this point that I realized that I would probably be in serious trouble once night fell, as the temperature was sure to plummet even further and I had zero chance of building a fire for the night. I don't have a cellphone, but I do use a smartphone as an music player--and apparently they are all still able to dial emergency services--so I got outside and climbed up to nearest highpoint and found that I had a managed to get a slight signal--I called 911 with the limited dexterity left in my fingers and quickly told them where I was, what I was doing, and that I need assistance--I didn't expect to hold the signal long, so I had to say everything I could in one shot--she said to stay where I was and they will send someone in as soon as they could--but that they weren't sure when that would be. Understandable, the place I was located was reachable only by foot or air, and this blizzard would keep any helicopters grounded--so I was three days away from rescue possibly.
With nothing more to do, I returned to my tent to try and stay dry/warm as much as possible--trying not to think about what my night may hold in store for me.
I half zoned out, because there was nothing better to do other than watch the light grey sky slowly turn to a dark grey--when I heard the telltale flutter of a helicopter.
Jumping out of my tent, I waved my orange towel around my head until the spotlight flashed in response--then I packed up my tent with record speed--just in time to be greeted by one of the search and rescue team who guided me to the helicopter--turned out they were thinking the same thing as I had been--that they either flew in that day or set off for the three day journey to reach me--apparently right before they called on the hike, they decided the weather had cleared up just enough to hazard the air journey.
Dropping me off at the provincial police station in Sudbury, they asked where I wanted to go--I had hitched up to this park and had nowhere to go so I had them drop me off at a nearby hotel--got a police escort right to the front desk (they wanted to make sure a room was available) and judges by the looks of other people, they thought I was either a VIP or criminal.
Anyways, yadda yadda yadda--took a hot shower, bought a bunch of food, and then just lay naked on my kingsized bed while I lorded it up over the fact that I was not currently popsicled.
Easily one of the closest times I've come to dying--learnt the lesson that the margin of error is much slimmer out in the backcountry than it is in civilization--and garnered a deep appreciation for the effort and skills of search and rescue workers--and, got a free helicopter tour through northern Ontario I guess!

oh, and though the blizzard calmed down slightly during the evening, it basically lasted for 48hours and I would have been entirely buried had I stayed to wait it out.

Holy shit Shiva, definitely makes you appreciate civilization more than ever. Nature is nothing to fuck around with.
One bad situation ive been in was driving around hollywood with two of my buddies drinking 40's. MY friend who was driving his fathers cadillac also had a suspended license, for drinking and driving
So we get pulled over out of nowhere by two cops on motorcyles...we throw the 40's on the ground trying to hide them.. and the cops up to the windows and start yelling random cop bullshit then pull the driver out of the car. At this point I was sure we were getting arrested, but after some yelling the cops get back on their bikes and cruise away.
My friend gets back in the car and what did they say?
" You know throwing your cigarette butt's on the street is illegal right? yada yada yada"
God Damn all that worrying for nothing..

About 6 years ago I was out riding my motorcycle at night. I'm going about 50mph, and a car coming the opposite direction turns left about 150-200 feet in front of me. I swerve/drift far into the turning lane and miss their rear bumper by about a foot. If I had reacted a second slower I would have T boned a car on a bike at 50 mph...not sure how that would have turned out.
Another time I was having some fun on mountain roads that I was familiar with but didn't know extremely well. I knew that a tight right hand turn was coming up and that there was a sign to signal it, but somehow missed it and came on the turn way too fast. I braked/turned a little too vigorously and slid the rear end out going about 30 mph into most of the opposite lane. Luckily no one was coming and my reactions were decent, as that could have easily been a bad accident or me going through a guardrail and off a ~100 foot drop.
After of all the dumb stuff I've done on roadways, I'm now a fairly modest driver and no longer ride bikes. Not sure whether that's a good thing. Fast vehicles are so much fun, but it may not be worth the risk unless it's on a track.
Was also a moderate alcoholic for a while. Rarely drink more than a drink or two in one night anymore, in large part thanks to this community. Not having to deal with hangovers, stupid drunk behavior, and the like is completely worth it, imo. I still have some mild issues with habitual substance use, but the negatives are far more mild than they were with alcohol, as I've educated myself on various plant medicines and opted to stick with clean ingestion methods of relatively harmless substances.
Other than that, just some health issues that I'm slowly addressing.

Damn shiva! That's some serious more next Les Stroud shit! Killarney is beautiful, though. I'd love to see it from a helicopter
The worst situation that I've been in (the only one I'll talk about here, that is) happened pretty close to Killarney PP.
Highway 522 goes east/west between highway 69 at French River and highway 11 south of North Bay. It is honestly the middle of nowhere.
I was riding my motorbike eastbound when I saw a blackbear and two cubs in the road ahead of me. I slowed down a bit, and they moved about 50 feet off the side of the road by the time I pulled up even with them.
I stopped to check them out, like you would in a car.
I watched them for a while, and it was pretty clear that they weren't afraid of me in the least. I soon realised that I was pretty exposed if mama bear decided that she might not like the way I was looking at her cubs, so I decided to split.
The bike was idling in neutral, and when I pulled in the clutch (which had been sticking a bit) and shifted into first gear, the drivechain ripped apart and broke off all sorts of parts of the engine. I wasn't going anywhere.
This didn't scare the bears at all, and the mama was looking more and more interested in me the longer i stood there thinking abut what I was going to do.
Luckily the engine was still running, so I gunned the engine a few times, and started running down the road, pushing the bike and gunning the engine.
I probably pushed that thing about 5 kms before a guy in a pickup truck came bup from behind me. I didn't hear him coming, and when he pulled up beside me, I was still jogging, pushing the bike and reving up the engine. He had the purest "WTF?'' expression I've ever seen on anybody's face before
He called a tow truck for me. Had to sit beside a tow truck driver all the way to Toronto No idea what happened to the bears.

Beaten unconscious by a metal pipe:
I was at a public place, and some guy was talking shit, so I decided to beat his face in because I was young and stupid. It started as a good clean fist fight. It was all going really well until he pulled out a metal pipe and proceeded to beat me onto the floor, and then beat me unconscious.
I was hurt real, real bad. I have massive scars from it to this day. They look like I was in a war zone. Luckily they're covered by hair. I probably lost a lot of brain cells that day.
It took me a long time to recover, and I've never been quite the same. For a long time, I had an unnaturally hard time recognizing people's faces, even people I'd known for a long time.
I also became permanently way more impulsive and way more willing to take risks which lasts to this day. After that, I never got into another fist fight, though. That guy had the opportunity to kill me, and either didn't want to, or thought he had. Not worth it.

I had undiagnosed schizophrenia in 2007 and my house mates in a 3mil pop city left the place because they felt unsafe around me, and the university staff providing the house kind of forgot about me, so I just went slowly more and more crazy in this house on my own. I was having insane panic attacks when I went down the street, so I couldn't get any food. I thought I had to fulfill some mission and thought not to contact my mum or brother, and later I totally forgot about them. So I survived on Weet-a-Bix with sugar on them, completely dry, for like two weeks. I ended up doing some insane shit, trashing my room, throwing shit everywhere, because I couldn't take it anymore, and I tried to kill myself but after the first injury I backed off, I think I also had some concussion, so my emotions started to dull. The neighbours started commenting on my thoughts and when I walked out into the kitchen naked with a tomatoe in my hand (lol) a camera on top of a neighbours shed quite clearly and realistically appeared to take a photo of me and all the neighbours started laughing, apparently. I did some more insane shit with the neighbours commenting on me in my head the whole time. When I slept the voices went so maybe it was more a sleep deprivation thing, I might have been up for 3 days or more at once. Finally the university staff comes to my house to check up and sees me all fucked up with a broken nose and cut on my forehead and blood in my hair, and my brother is informed and they get me the fuck out of there. Been medicated ever since, haven't been the same since either. I've only just started to be reminded of who I used to be.

One more story. My cousin and I were tripping on shrooms with some girls and we decided to walk to the beach. In the middle of the walk one of the girls blacked out and ate pavement. She got up with a hole in her chin and we spent the rest of the night tripping in the hospital.

I've had a lot of shitty experiences, but 2 immediately come to mind and stick out. A surgery when I was 17 that took over 6 months to recover from. They put 2 titanium rods in my back. And the other was an 8 cop task force raiding my house, and charging me with 6 first degree felonies and around 20 other bullshit charges. Kicking a $500+ a day OC habit pretty much cold turkey was horrible too!
