Exploring Abandoned Mines

For whatever reason, I'm fascinated with abandoned mines.
I've never actually explored any, and I know that they're dangerous as hell, but it's like the siren's song... I'm so curious.
Anyone ever explore abandoned mines?

There are hundreds around my way. All coal mines, wouldn't go down one of those shafts if you paid me...
I have enough fun exploring the old area where they were.

As cool as it sounds to explore an abandoned mine, I sometimes become claustrophobic in situations like that.

I have explored many abandoned gold mines in the deserts of California and Arizona. It's pretty interesting and fun, but I'd recommend a good hardhat or mining hat because it is very easy to bang your head, particularly if you happen across a bunch of snakes and have to leave in a hurry.

Wow, that sounds fucking amazing as hell! I love spelunking and a mine would just be... amazing.
BTW Enlil you don't accept PMs or I'd have gotten to tell you this already, but I just wanted to say and acknowledge that in the thread Shroomism made about the more-stringent policing of the pub where he used mellowparty as an example, you got completely misinterpreted to the point of it almost being comical if we all didn't have a vested stake in it. I love Cervantez and everyone else in that thread, but frankly that thread started to look like a head of state interacting with a mime or clown of some sort.

I don't even know what that means, but...okay.
And I accept PMs...I just don't use the messagebox feature.

I found an old abandoned gold mine, but I won't go in there. Too dangerous for sure. A well-planned excursion might reveal a few pickers though.

Doubtful... the people who worked in that mine were just as greedy as you

Oi, I'm not greedy! I just figured there might be something there worth investigating. Definitely not worth risking my life.
