wood chip shrooms
    #19271790 - 12/13/13 05:34 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Found two different mushrooms, in two different wood chip piles during my lunch break. Didn't have time to really check for bruising, but here are the pics. I think they might both be hypholoma? But honestly I'm still learning how to ID lol.

Edit: this was in Arcata CA

MUSHROOM #1

Galerina most likely as there's no bruising..

Do not be discouraged though, take these as an indicator that you're own the right path

I'd call #2 a Galerina sp.  Look at the blackish discoloration of the stipe.

Just glad to see that the mornings up here haven't killed off all the mushrooms.  It's encouraging to see your new finds Stonedhobbit, keep at it!

Galerina are pelliculate, I would call them a Tubaria if I found them.
Never-mind they do look like Galerina marginata.

Hm.. are you sure you didnt get to have a look on them after a few hours?
Because sometimes the same wood lover species can look alot like the Galerina Marginata (and show lots of blue bruising)
Blue bruising is like the main indicator for me because of that.

I dont wuite understand the first sentence....  But these are NOT active mushrooms.  No If's Ands or Buts about it.  Galerina all the way, SERIOUS potential for DEATH if ingested.

I see blueish hints in this pick, it's not bruising but the color of the stem, I would call it Inocybe maxima var. hirsuta.  Still poisonous/not active.
